Thomas Nelson Ambler, 71, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at his home. He was born on March 29, 1949 in Page, West Virginia to Theodore and Rose Nell Pryor Ambler.
Thomas attended Dubois Elementary, Mt. Hope Jr. High, and graduated from Mt. Hope High School all in Mt. Hope, West Virginia. Shortly after graduation he moved to Columbus, Ohio where he made his home until his death. He always enjoyed coming “HOME”. He loved the annual town “Jubilees” and the area “Bridge Day” celebrations.
Thomas enjoyed walking across the New River Gorge Bridge which was the world’s longest single span arch bridge for 26 years. He enjoyed the views as well as the many vendors. One of the highlights included watching the base jumpers parachute off the bridge. These were times for visiting family and seeing his buddies that he had grown up with throughout his childhood and had maintained those friendships. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by many.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Rose Nell Pryor Ambler; and brother and sister-in law, Charles and Esther Ambler of Columbus, OH.
Thomas leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Sharon Ambler; sons, Valquez Davis, Juawann Ambler, and Zarnoff Dunlap; stepchildren, Lawyer Westbrook IV and Bryant Westbrook, and Gena Worthy; 7 grandchildren; brother, James Ambler of Orlando, FL; sisters, Jean (Reverend Thomas) Steelman and Alice Ambler of Mt. Hope, WV; brothers in law, Drake Worthy, Stevie Worthy, and Magellan Moore; special niece, Louise Powell, of which they were practically raised together; nieces, Gayle, Kisha, and Toya Ambler; nephews, Karl, Waymon, Mark, Marvin, and Stacey Ambler; and a host of other relatives and friends.

I graduated with Thomas in 1968 from Mount Hope, WV. Thomas was a quiet-type person in his early years but he and I were friends. May wonderful memories of Thomas bring you peace as you grieve his loss.
Love and prayers for peace and comfort to the family. The passing of friends and neighbors from the McDonald Hill neighborhood of Mount Hope, West Virginia is heartbreaking. Pete will be missed but always a part of precious childhood memories.

Some childhood memories never die, I recall the time he rode on my motorcycle together in Mount Hope West Virginia and him visiting my home in Cleveland. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends in this time of mourning. Pete has been called home, but I will always cherish his memory. To his family stay strong and prayer helps’
I will always remember my Uncle Thomas! Charismatic, funny, and loving. I will miss our trips to fish in Fremont. OH. Rest in piece uncle Thomas. Much love!
Condolences to the family. Pete was a very dear friend that I enjoyed playing with all over Mc Donald hill when we were kids. I enjoyed his visits to Cleveland and my visits to Columbus just to laugh and talk about our times as kids together. I will miss my friend. Prayers from the Gray family. RIH my friend.
