HoltThomas

Thomas Henry “Freckles” Holt, 85, was born February 16, 1935, in Thomaston, Georgia, Upson County to the late Zack and Cora T. Holt. He departed this life on January 17, 2021.

Thomas was both a student and a teacher of life. He experienced life to the fullest and could be considered a modern-day Renaissance Man full of wisdom, entrepreneur and vision. During the course of his life, he was a son, brother, outdoor field laborer, sawmill worker, pool shark, club manager, husband, father of six biological children and mentor to many others.

Everything he was and became was based on his core foundation of John 1:12, “But as many has received him, to them, gave he power to BECOME the sons of God.” He BECAME the owner of his own business company, Thomas Holt Construction Company, owner of his home and of multiple properties in other countries. He BECAME an experienced hunter of small and large game in Colorado. He BECAME a fisherman, farmer, gardener, wine maker, chef, and grill master. He BECAME a man who did not make excuses why he could not succeed in all his life goals with less than a 7th grade education.
Thomas embodied the scripture, Romans 8:29-31 that states, “If God be for you who and what can be against you.” His strong spiritual foundation was based on his fundamental principles of having excellent work ethics, strength, discipline and walking in integrity. This contributed to him being highly successful in any and all endeavors, goals and dreams he pursued in life.
Finally, the Bible declares in Proverbs 13:22, “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.” Thomas Holt’s successful life planning will leave a legacy that will always be remembered and forever benefit his children for generations to come. The greatest testament to a life well lived is that you leave without any regrets and that you leave this life empty.

When asked if Thomas had any regrets about his life, he stated that he would not change anything because it took all of it to get him to where he was in life. To our Dad, Grand Dad, Great Grand Dad, Brother, and friend, we say, “Well Done thou Good and Faithful Servant”, you have been faithful over a few things. You have fought a good fight, you have finished your course, you kept the faith, and a crown of righteousness awaits.

Thomas was preceded in death by his former wife, Mable Lee Holt-Hymes; sons Thomas Holt Jr. and Steven Holt; daughter, Marlene Holt; parents, Zack and Cora T. Holt; sisters, Ellen Revier, and Mildred (Holt) Reves; and brother, Charlie David Holt.

Thomas is survived by daughters, Tammie and Darlene Holt, Sheila Thompson-White, Denise Reed, Melinda Glass, and Alva Lawson; sons, Ulysee (Linda Kaye) and Lennie (Brenda) Glass; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren all of Columbus Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
