Thomas “Creek” Marion Penn, passed away May3,2021 at Select Specialty Hospital after a long stay at Mount Carmel East Hospital.

He was born July 3,1951 in Columbus, Ohio to Mabel “Dumplin” Taylor and Thomas Lowe. His middle name was also his grandmother’s name, and the nickname “Creek” was given to him by his only Aunt, Ida Mae. She said he used to creep around all the time.

When Thomas was thirteen years old, he met Linda Laureen Casey. They fell in love and were married at the young age of 15 and 16. Mom was a year older than Dad. He was drafted in the United States Marine Corps when he was 16 and lived in California and Hawaii during his time in service. They also had their first born at 16, Thomas M. Penn Jr. At the age of 17 their second child Carmon (Marcia) Penn and at the age of 19 they had their 3rd child at the age of 19, April Lynn Penn. Thomas was Honorably discharged after four years of service, then moved back to Columbus, Ohio.

He loved to cook, dance, and play the lottery; but his favorite thing was live music. He went to many concerts. The most favorite thing was his birthday, July 3rd and it was always the 4th of July to him. He knew everyone’s birthday, family and friends and made sure he bought the most beautiful cards to share his love with that person. He always put $20.00 in the card. He was known as the $20.00 man and he would say, “that’s all I got”.

He worked and retired from Crane Plastics (Southside of Columbus) for 32 years to provide for his three children. Many years later Marcus Lee Hardy was born on November 22, 1981. Many years passed he then married Gloria “Johnson” Penn and Anthony Thomas Penn was born on December 15, 1994.

Thomas was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel “Dumplin” Taylor and father, Thomas Lowe; first wife, Linda Laureen Penn (Casey); brother, Donald Taylor; twin sisters, Rosa Lee Tucker and Donna Lee Black.

Left to cherish his memories are his 5 Children, Thomas Jr., Marcie, April, Marcus and Anthony; 5 grandkids, David Jamika, Destiny, Javiona and Renee; 6 Great-grands, Tevon, Zamonte, Jaylen, David Jr., Winnie, and Keely; Sisters, Margo (Nate) Terry, Linda Madison, Sheila Moss, Ramona “Moni” Lowe; Brothers, Robert “Bobby” Penn, Gregory Penn, Jeffrey Penn and Victoria Brown. Also, a large selection of nieces, nephews and life- long friends.

My words will never be able to express the pain I have in my heart at this time. We miss and Love Creek so much. He is my Brother . As we take a look around, we through his children and grandchildren will always have parts of him with us. And the same as we look at one another, if you are a Sister, Brother, Son, Daughter, Niece, Nephew, Cousin, Grandfather, we all will show reflections of Creek. This is not the end, because we will see him again in Heaven up above, and we will be reunited with him again, and this time it will be forever. Everyone please make sure that you ask God to forgive you of your sins and to come into your life and live big inside of you. When you do this according to John 3:16, your sins will be forgiven and as you walk your new walk with God, and stick with God until the end of your time here on Earth, when life here is over, you will go home to be with the Lord God Almighty, and so shall you be with Him forever and ever. I pray to see you all there. Jesus is the way to get there. Ask Him today to forgive you and invite Jesus to come in. I did, Creek did, and any and all others who make it to Heaven, had and have to do the invite. So take time and do it now. You will be glad you did. Pray for a good Church where you can join with others to praise and Worship God in. Love you, take great care and be strong. God will fix it for you.
