Thurman C. Pleasant Jr.

Thurman Pleasant Program Photo

Thurman C. Pleasant gave his life to Christ and was baptized at Columbus Christian Center. His Christian journey led him to Living Word, where he was a member and servant for the last six years.
Thurman AKA “Buggy” or “Bug” was the son of Thurman Pleasant Sr. and Viola Price. He was second to the eldest of five children: Rhonda, Laura, Kevin (Deanna), Sherman (Maly), and Bayyinah Diggs.
He was a loving husband of Kathy “Kat” Pleasant for thirty three years.
Buggy was a devoted father of four children: Rashad, Shane, Shanika Pleasant, and Dashon Redman. He was caring and loving grandfather to Jayden Pleasant and Loraine White, as well as a loving and gentle uncle to Javaigha Simington and Malia Pleasant. He was a brother-in-love (in-law) to Anita Davis, D. J. and Shardel Suber. He was also the son-in-love (in-law) Nancy Suber, Odell and Emma Suber. Buggy was an awesome friend and Big Brother to many in his lifetime.
Along with his award winning smile, SENSE OF HUMOR and BRIGHT PERSONALITY, his comments were always expected with every encounter. You knew you were loved when you received a personal nickname from Buggy. His love for music was a gift to enjoy by all who knew him. Every time he put his hand to the stove, you knew that something delicious was being created. People came to him from all over to get their hair cut or faded, and listen to him make jokes at their expense. Some would just crowd around to listen to the stories being told while he worked. While the music blared from large DJ speakers, he would often stop to dance. One of his favorite house party tunes was “Pumps in the Bump”. He was always the life of the party. In all, Thurman was truly a barber to many, a DJ to some and a chef to all. Before Buggy would exit a room, he would always have the last joke or word bellowing out, and then there was always the same rebuttal:
SHUT UP THURMAN/”BUGGY”!!!

To my family no words can express the sorrow of the loss of Buggy our family comedian.
His laughter, his smile, capping on all he knew and some he didn’t and his a way of debating any issue. I will and like most of you will truly miss him. We all know God loved him more. My message to all when sadness creeps upon you think about the good times he had with us, those tears will turn into happy tears. His memory will not fade away.
