LaceyTonika

Tonika Chantel Lacey was born on January 6, 1972 to Carolyn and I. L. Lacey in Chicago, Illinois. Raised in a Christian home, she confessed Christ at an early age. Tonika graduated from Bowen High School of Chicago in 1989 and went on to attend Ohio State University.

Tonika was always stylish and jazzy which earned her the nickname “HOLLYWOOD” when she moved to Ohio. She was a very independent and strong woman who worked hard and never relied on a handout from anyone. She held many long-term jobs to care for her family, but her most recent was her 10 years of dedication as an administrative assistant at Broad Street Chiropractic of Columbus, OH. She worked there from 2003 to 2013, when they closed their doors. Tonika went on to work admissions with the Central Ohio Community Involvement Foundation until the Lord called her home.

Tonika’s pride and joy was her 3 handsome sons Caron (age 24), Kaelen (age 22), and Cameron (age 18). Not only were they her children, but they were her best friends. She always told them to do unto others as they would want done to them.

Tonika leaves to cherish her memories: Her sons, Caron, Kaelen, and Cameron Montgomery, Columbus OH., two brothers, Derril Lacey, Montgomery Al., Nathan Lacey, Worcester MA., One Sister, Carolyn Lacey Boyd (William), Montgomery, AL., Aunt, Eloise Powell, Chicago Ill., Uncle, Anthony Swindall, Akron Oh., grand-mother, Lee Esther Swindall, Chicago Ill., long-time friends, Ronnie Scott, Chicago Ill., Marcus Edwards, Columbus, OH., Shaquita Jenkins, Columbus OH., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by: Her mother, Carolyn Sue Steele, father I.L. Lacey, brother, Jason Lacey, sister Donielle Swindall, grandfather, Albert Swindall, three uncles, Larry Swindall, Albert Swindall Jr., and Nathaniel Powell.

Visitation 11:00am and Funeral 12:00pm Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Marlan Gary Funeral Home, The Chapel of Peace North, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Condolence from Kim Dillard on April 27th, 2018 2:08 pm

To the family of Tonika, you have my deepest sympathy in your loss. Death was never God’s purpose for the human family. He put Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden (paradise), they were to extend it, to have children, to fill the earth, and to live forever! (Genesis 1:28) Because of Adam’s disobedience, sin and death was passed on to us. (Genesis 2:15-17; Romans 5:12) Very soon, God will reverse the effects of sin and will eliminate death forever and all of His promises will come true! (Isaiah 25:8)

“And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4
The Bible promises at Acts 24:15 and John 5:28,29 of a resurrection, which is a sure hope of being reunited with our dead loved ones.
