Tony Marqus Lane

LaneTony

Tony Marqus Lane was born on June 13, 1959 and transitioned to his eternal life on July 14, 2018 at his home. “Be that as it may”, as Tony would say; “Almighty Jehovah God” commanded him to be the fourth child delivered to Homer Daniel and Shirley Ann Lane in Columbus, Ohio; and the fourth child of that union to return to HIM and them.

Tony attended East High and entered the U. S. Army shortly thereafter, where he practiced photography, and was an audio TV specialist. He was employed by DSCC, U.S. Postal Service, and proudly was self- employed in several businesses.

As a child known as “Whimpy”, he would often promise to pay you on Tuesday if you bought him a “hamburgee”. He loved cooking, yard work, reading and entertaining. A hilarious person one minute could evolve in a split second to an ardent debater. Tony had a gift of helps. He would even answer his phone by saying, “How may I help you?”. He encouraged many and helped whomever he could. He was a Baptized Believer and fellowshipped at Grace Temple Outreach Fellowship.

Tony is preceded in death by his parents; Homer Daniel Lane and Shirley Ann Lane; maternal grandparents; Ernest and Ruby Hodge; paternal grandparents, Mims and Lil Lane; brothers, Timothy Lane, Tyrone E. Lane, Carey D. Lane, Jeffery A Lane; aunt, Veronica Willis; uncles, Ralph Hordge, Edward Hordge and George Lake; as well as a host of paternal and maternal family members.

Tony is survived by his son Jordan (Michelle) Denmark, whom he recently met, and it brought him so much happiness and joy; daughter, Jacqueline Lane, and special daughter Pamela Bolds; sisters, Dorothea (Joel) Edwards, Peggy (Ruffin) Morris, and Mauldine Lane; brothers, Charles (Tracy) Lane, Ernest Lane and Homer (Aleta) Lane; aunts Lynette Carter, Barbara Hordge, and Kathleen (Lawrence) Pegram; special friends, Alesia Lane, Hattie Mae Moorehead, Smith family, and special niece, Laquaria Curry, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and a numerous list of extended family and friends.

Tony was a giving special man that always encouraged me. He is missed.

  5. To the family and friends of Tony Lane, you have my condolences in your loss. When Lazarus fell sick and died, Jesus told his disciples that he was going to awaken him. (John 11:11) Jesus knew that death is a deep sleep state in which the dead are waiting for the promised resurrection. (Acts 24:15). May you have faith in God’s promise that Tony will live again!
