Years and years ago I had Trent in my math class at McGuffey. Full of life, he was a joy for this new teacher to have in class. I knew he would be a success. I am sorry you lost him too soon. I think my name was Smith when I had him. Had Todd in study hall. The Penns were terrific.

Condolences to the Penn family. Trent was a smart African American man. He was always willing to help someone else. While you n high school I still remember him telling me to do math 5 nights a week to conquer Algebra I and I. In college he sat down and advised which classes to take. He was not selfish, but generous. He was willing to help others. His guidance was helpful to me. Gone too soon, and we love you. Panthers for life.

My thoughts and prayers to the Penn family. I remember Trent aka “Ghost,” being a very tough and dedicated athlete when he was at Linden. Trent had great hands as a receiver and could play defense with the best of them. Trent was a good kid !!! I was very lucky to have him as a player and student. I will sum up Trent’s heart. During basketball practice one day he was guarding Doug Ferguson. As we all know Trent would drive guys nuts by guarding them so closely. Doug was little frustrated with him for being in his face. Doug gave him a good right hander to the face ! Trent didn’t even blink, he just kept guarding him very closely. Not a word was said but both kids knew Trent would never give up, he played with all of his heart. I miss Trent as I miss all the kids from Linden !

Condolences to the Penn family. Trent was a smart young man. While in Geometry together I recall him saying if you memorize the hypothesis and the theorems you will be able to solve the problem. While at Ohio State he recommended taking some of the general requirements that the athletes took. Again this was good academic advise. He was not selfish. He wanted to help others
Rest In Peace Trent.
