Vernon Dewayne Young, went home to be with the Lord on the late evening of January 28, 2021.

Vernon was born on October 28, 1961 to the late John and Annie Young. His childhood was spent in Ansted, West Virginia. He graduated from Midland Trail High School, Hico, WV where he was a four year Letterman in football in the Tackle Position; served as Senior Class President, member of Student Government Association and 4H Club and most importantly an all around loved and highly respected young student.
After graduation he remained home for one year caring for his aging parents. He then attended and graduated from the National Business College in Roanoke, VA. Where he served in Student Government.

After graduating from college Vernon was employed by the State of Ohio Department of Corrections in Madison County for the first five years and was transferred to Cleveland as a Supervisor at The State of Ohio Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He was the Union Chief Stewart. He continued working in Cleveland throughout his career.

Veron was a child of the Most High King, excepting Christ at the age of 13. He was baptized and became a member of Mt. Chapel Baptist Church serving on the Usher Board, Choir, Junior Deacon Board, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Coordinator and many other capacities of the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Annie Mundy Young; six siblings, Mary Y. Williams, Pamela Young, John Young Jr., Annie J. Young, Arthur Young and Lawrence Young.

Left to cherish his memory, sister, Vernice Y. Calloway; brothers, Leslie (Bertha) Young Sr., Reverend Joseph (Sandy) Young, Michael Young Sr., Melvin (Lorie) Young Sr., and Glen (Joyce) Young Sr., adopted son, Roberto; special nieces, Veronica Sample, Belinda Calloway , special nephew, David Calloway Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and Mt. Chapel Baptist Church Family.

Visitation 11:00am and Funeral 12:00 noon Wednesday February 3, 2021 at Mt. Chapel Baptist Church 100 Skaggs St., Anstead, WV. 25812. Followed by burial at Mt. Chapel Cemetery. Services entrusted to Ritchie & Johnson Funeral Parlor 748 S Fayette St, Beckley, WV.
