Walter D. Truss

TrussWalter

Walter Daniel “Danny” Truss was born March 24, 1951 in Columbus, Ohio. Walter, along with his family, gave his life to Christ at an early age at the New Salem Baptist Church. Although life gave them a difficult start, their love for Christ increased each of them to become strong family providers.

Walter was so proud and loved each of his family members. While attending a truck driving program, he met his wife, Marva and he joined her at the Hosack Street Baptist Church, under pastorage of the late Dr. Percy Carter, Jr. Walter not only loved Marva, but his love extended to the entire Bibb family, particularly Ola Bibb whom he fondly called Mom.

Walter had lots of pride when he spoke to everyone about his two sons, Austin and Yon, who both
came into this world weighing one pound each. Adding more pride to his life was when Austin
married Riyeasa and his first grandson, Austin Lee was born. Walter was surrounded by love.
He loved his Hosack family and he knew they loved him in return.

More importantly, Walter loved the Lord and demonstrated it every day and everywhere he went, talking about the Lord to others. Walter was a member of the Hosack United Brethren, Media Ministry, Male Chorus, Health Ministry and the Debra Williamson Gospel Choir. At the age of 64, Walter decided to go back to school and get his high school diploma. He studied every night and attended all his classes. He was so proud when they called his name as he walked across the East High School stage to receive his diploma. Along with his family and
friends who witness this wonderful achievement early Saturday morning, the only words he
could say was “Thank You God!”

Walter worked at many positions and he enjoyed serving at Donita’s Restaurant for Mr. Donald
Carroll, who he loved. Truck driving across America was another love, but he was most proud of
his time at Maplewood Heights Apartments which is where, due to his health, he retired. He loved his time there and the staff and the residents.
Walter was a avid sports fan, and especially loved the Cleveland Browns. He also enjoyed watching a good western on the Turner Classic network. As a hobby in his spare time, Walter has written two plays, and he love to act in Nadine Lewis’ productions.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur Stewart and Eleanor Suber; brother, Wilbur Truss and sister, Sheryl Suber.

Leaving to cherish his fond and loving memories are his devoted wife, Marva; two sons, Austin
(Riyeasa) and Yon Truss; grandson, Austin Lee Truss; brothers, Robert, Ronald, Michael, and Mark (Judy) Stewart, Donald Truss, Brian (April), David, Darrell, and Billy Suber; sisters, Joyce (Harry) Winslow, Linda, Eleanor, Sharon, and Sheryl Suber; sister-in-laws, Rachel Bibb, Kimberly (James) Garrett; brother-in-laws, Marvin and William Bibb; godson, Shadin Banks; goddaughter, Alicia Bibb; and special daughter Kennedy Lewis, also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Monday, September 9, 2019 at Hosack Street Baptist Church 1160 Watkins Road. Officiant Dr. Jonathan Morehead.

Interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
