Wanda Sabrina Rutland, age 67, gained her angel wings on May 26, 2023. She passed away while she was in hospice care at Kobacker House, located in Columbus, Ohio.

Wanda was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, daughter and friend. She was born on May 22, 1956, to the late Deacon Lester and Anna Rutland.

She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, but her parents relocated to Columbus, Ohio where she was raised on the Eastside of Columbus. She graduated from Columbus East High School class of 1974. She attended the Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She served on the Usher Board, Mime Ministry, worked on the vacation Bible School Staff and her favorite work was heading the decoration committee, (she took that job very seriously during the holiday season).

Wanda was the eldest of 4 children, which was a title she held with great pride. She was blessed with one child, Leslie Rutland, who she loved with all her heart. Leslie blessed Wanda with two grandchildren, and Wanda adored her grandchildren. She was very active in their lives. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She was a great aunt and the best sister any sibling could ask for. She was simply the best! She loved her family and enjoyed spending time whenever possible.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter; Leslie Rutland, grandchildren; Troy and Gwendolyn, sisters; Felicia Waddy and Theresa Bryant, brother; Lester Rutland, nephews; Cameron, Manzona and Kia, niece; Vera, along with a host of cousins and friends who became extended family.

Visitation 9:00 AM and Funeral Service 10:00 AM Monday, June 5, 2023 at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 1080 E Broad St. 43205.

Interment at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens.
