Wayne Byas Sr. was born July 21, 1960 and passed away at his home on Thursday, May 20, 2021 in Toledo, Ohio after his battle with Leukemia.

Wayne graduated from Linden McKinley High School (Columbus, Ohio), where he was a member of the Marching Band. He began driving tractor trailers with his cousin best friend Rodney Dowe Enterprize.

Wayne then relocated to Toledo where he became a driver for Chrysler/Jeep out of Toledo, and Detroit, and was a respected member of the car haulers union. Wayne loved family, sports, fishing, cruising fast cars, and telling tall tales to entertain all who would listen. He knew no strangers and made everyone feel at home.

Wayne is preceded in death by his father, Walter Hunter Byas, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Steve and Corene McGhee; and paternal grandparents, Paul and Mary Byas.

Wayne leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved mother, Janet (McGhee) Byas-White of Columbus, Ohio; sons, Wayne Dexter (Devine Spikes) Byas II and Marco Lee Byas of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Karessa Corrine Byas of Columbus, Ohio; grandson, Daijon Spikes; granddaughters, Malaiya Byas, Kamiya Smith, and Ki’Ayla Smith; partner, Tara Kayzinski, Vincent Kayzinski, Chaz Kayzinski, and Miranda Negrete and children of Toledo, Ohio; brother, Wallter Hunter (Nancy) Byas Jr. of Athens, TN; sisters, JoAnnette Byas-Marston and Clydell (Byas) Prillerman of Columbus, OH; nephews, Walter Hunter Byas, III of Athens, TN, and Willam Prillerman II of Columbus, OH; nieces, Danielle Byas (Smith) of Athens, TN, Chanell (Thomas) Reed of Plano, TX, and Jane’ Byas of Athens, TN; aunts, Dora (McGhee) Mailey and Juanita (Leroy) Hicks of Chicago, IL; and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.
