William Griffin, age 85, a life-long resident of Columbus, Ohio. He was born September 29, 1937. He departed from this life October 17, 2022 unexpectedly.

William attended and graduated from a catholic school and served as an Altar Boy. In 19 55, William met and married his first wife at a young tender age of 18 years old, to Mary C. Strother, and from that union, were two children, daughter, Deborah; and son, William “Tony”

William worked many job, including Timkins Co. and the Post Office. Later in life William divorced. He remained single for a while, until he met and married, Irma Lee Mitchell until her untimely death in the 90’s. There were no children from that marriage.

William is preceded in death by his father, Willie “Funny” Griffin; mother, Elenor Griffin (Bonderant); second wife, Irma Lee Griffin; sisters, Delores Griffin, and Mary Bradley; brothers, Robert Griffin and Ralph Griffin; nephew, Richard Bradley.

William is survived by his two children, Deborah (Michael), and William; seven grandchildren, Latisha Griffin, Demarcus Griffin, LaShawna Griffin, Michelle McElheney, Candace Yuille, Troy Griffin, and Brian Yuille; fourteen great grandchildren; one great great-grandson; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation 1-3:00pm Friday, October 28, 2022 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

You were the last of Uncle Funny and Aunt Elenor’s children who touched my life from my years as a toddler in ‘the country’ to our last phone conversation. Peace be with you all.
