Willie Flowers was born in Columbus, Ohio, to Howard Mitchell and Mildred Marie Flowers on December 21, 1959. After a battle with cancer, he went home to be with the Lord on December 4, 2021. He died surrounded by his family.

Upon graduating from Central High School, Willie enlisted in the Army, serving until honorably discharged. He later graduated from Bliss College with an Associates Degree in Business Administration and a Certificate of Accounting.

Willie held many positions in his life, ultimately finding fulfillment as a general contractor. An incredibly gifted artist and illustrator, Willie’s artistic ability came in handy as he helped clients achieve their renovation dreams.

If you needed help moving or learning to drive, Willie was there. A rhythmic, fluid skater, Willie was known for being meticulously groomed. The life of any party, you simply couldn’t beat him in a game of dominoes… or at trash-talking while playing.

While he enjoyed having a good time, his true passion was fishing and the solitude and serenity he found on Ohio’s riverways, reservoirs, and lakes. He spent untold hours reeling in big ones alone or with friends. Willie’s love of fishing was surpassed only by his love for children–-particularly the grandchildren he adored and spent much of his free time with. He taught both his kids and grandkids how to fish as soon as they could walk. Nearly all share fond memories of days spent on the water, followed by cleaning and cooking some of the best fish they’ve ever had.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Frederick Tyrone Flowers and Cheryl Lynn Flowers.

He is survived by his children: Tanika (Rashawn) Flowers Sykes, Darius Bailey, Destiny (Montrell Robinson) Bailey, and Desmerya Flowers. He is also survived by stepchildren Natosha Holt and Michelle Holt, and grandchildren Doreon Edgington, Darion Bailey, Damier Bailey, Avery Sykes, Montrell Robinson Jr., Davion Holt, Demari Holt, Dajon Holt, Dallas Holt, Rylee Gray, Kahleya Davis, and Damani Bailey; siblings John (Darla) Flowers, Andre Flowers, and Tanowa Troupe; and a host of other family and dear friends.
