Yvette Brown, age 74, affectionately known as “Auntie” departed this life and went home to be with the Lord on January 19, 2022 at the Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on November 18, 1947 to Herman and Virginia Rozzelle. She grew up in Urbancrest, Ohio and graduated from Grove City High School and then graduated from The Ohio State University.
Yvette was a proud and devoted member of the Love Zion Baptist Church for many years, serving in many capacities. She served as Church Financial Secretary, Meals on Wheels, and in the Pastoral Choir. Yvette was involved in the Outreach Ministry and was very active in assisting and helping to manage the food give aways and the Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets. Yvette was extremely active and good at delegating (getting others to volunteer).
Yvette was also involved in Fulfillment Hour (Sunday School) and Bible Study, Eschatology Class. She loved talking about God and His promise of eternal life with her Heavenly Father.
Yvette loved children and she managed the Echo Day Care Center. She impacted hundreds of children and adults alike. She later worked at the United States Postal Service. She worked part time at Honey Baked and did taxes during tax season. Yvette also coordinated church fund raisers for the church such as the Honey Baked Ham, the annual trip to the Amish Country, and Shopping trips.
Yvette loved people. She had a willingness to serve and was a giver to others. She will truly be missed!
Yvette was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Brown; her parents, Herman and Virginia Rozzelle; brothers, Pierre Rozzelle and Raines Rozzelle; and sister, Leneara Banks.
Yvette leaves to cherish her memory sister, Iris (George) Morris; stepmother-in-law, Ruth Brown of North Carolina; brother-in-law, Robert (Beverly) Kimber; special friend, Delores Pierce; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and her beloved Love Zion Baptist Church family.
Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Friday, January 28, 2022 at Love Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1459 Madison Ave. Mask and Social Distancing are required. Interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estates. Ministry of Comfort entrusted to MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Condolences for the family of “Yvette Darlene Brown”
May the peace and comfort of our Lord be ours during this time of bereavement for our beloved sister, friend, and Auntie. She was the most personable, kind, and generous one I ever knew and she was the first one to teach me to love and believe in myself. I will love this beautiful Lady forever. Rest in Heaven dearest Sister.
Yvette was a trusted friend for many years. She was loving, dependable and trustworthy. I will miss our conversations and laughter. I thank God for sending me a friend like Auntie. I know you are enjoying the fruits of your labor. Family just keep the memories close to your hearts and trust the Lord.
I woke up this morning with “Auntie” in my thoughts. Perhaps because her birthday was last week. Maybe because it is Thanksgiving this week and she worked with me so many years at HoneyBaked Ham. Perhaps it is because of that warm, loving feeling you get just being in her presence. Maybe it is because of the positive impact she had on my from the very first time I met her as a teen when her nephew Bryan, one of my dearest and closest friends to this day, went to visit Auntie and Uncle James with me in tow. Upon meeting her, Auntie would not let me cross the threshold into her house until I honored her request of saying a verse from the Bible. I struggled with thinking of a verse. Auntie gently held both of y hands and said, “Now repeat after me, ‘The Lord is my shepherd…’” Maybe because I miss her. Keep singing and dancing with the angels Auntie. I love and miss you.

Sending sincere condolences for the ongoing of our beloved “Auntie!” I pray her family strength and comfort during this time of bereavement. Auntie has truly influenced the lives of my family. She gave her time, encouraging words, heart felt prayers and laughter through many encounters/ discussions regarding the facets of life. The Mane’ , Talmadge and Miles family will miss you very much…especially during Eschatology class. I know the Father has received you with open arms.
