AllenAlonzo

Alonzo Deleo Allen age 78, of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, February 9, 2018 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s and dementia. He was born on August 3, 1939 in Columbus, Ohio to the late John H. and Ruth Esther Allen. Alonzo graduated from East High School and retired from Anheuser Busch after 30 years of service. Prior work experience in his early years he was the American Addition Paper Boy and for his early adult years he worked for the Gilberts shoe Company. He was very popular with this position people managed to have new shoes every week. 🙂

Alonzo was a former member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a faithful member of Faith Ministries Church where he was an active member of the men’s chorus and bible study.

Al or some would call him “Big Al” was a sport enthusiast. He loved his cardiac kids, the Cleveland Browns, bowling, and most of all he loved his fishing excursions with his buddies Roger, Tommy, Paul, and Andy. Al never met a stranger. He was always there for you if you were in need of anything or even if you just needed a conversation, Al was there.

Alonzo is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years Brenda J. Collins-Allen, son Michael Jackson, parents John H. and Ruth Esther Allen, brothers John H. Jr., Rudy, and Benjamin Allen, sisters JoAnn Howell, Marjorie Wright, Peggy Garner, and Jeanette Scott.

He leaves to cherish his memory with daughter Monica (Larry) Jackson, sisters Joyce Clark, Bernice Drayton, brother in law Charles N. (Semegn) Collins, grandchildren Nicole Jackson (Calvin Royal III), Larry Jackson Jr., DeJuan (Pamela) Jackson, Miakaya Jackson, nine great grandchildren and a host of cousins, family, and friends who loved him dearly.

Special, thank you, to the Ohio State University Hospital and the caring staff from  Raphael Heath Care (Jeannie Harris) and Eastland Rehabilitation. Your services were greatly appreciated.

Visitation 11:00am and funeral at 12:00pm Friday, February 23, 2018 at Faith ministries 2747 Agler Rd.

To the family and friends of Alonzo Deleo Allen, you don’t know me, however, I wanted to take this opportunity to offer my deepest condolences to each of you.

The death of a love one can bring all of us much pain and sorrow. May the words found at 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 be of comfort to you, it says, “Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God.”

May each of you allow Gods comforting words to sustain you.
