Today, our hearts are broken as we all mourn the loss of our beloved Anita Brooks. Anita was a caring daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on February 9, 2024, at the age of 71 to be with Jesus.
Born on to Ivan C. and Daisy Richardson Sr. in Holden, WV on March 13, 1952, Anita completed her education at Logan High School in 1970. After graduation Anita married Larry T. Brooks Sr. and moved to Columbus, OH where she was blessed with two sons, namely Larry T. Brooks Jr. and William A. (Tony) Brooks.
Anita’s journey through life was marked by her devotion to her family. A woman of strength and resilience, Anita faced life’s challenges head on never losing her kind sprit and determination. Her career in health insurance spanned over 35 years with Blue Cross Blue Shield, where she touched countless lives with her care and compassion.
Preceded in death by her father, Ivan C. Richardson Sr., and her brother, Michael T. Richardson.
Anita’s legacy continues through her mother, Daisy W. Richardson; siblings, Ivan C. (Dolores) Richardson Jr. and Vincent D. Richardson; children, Larry T. Brooks Jr. and William A. (Tonya) Brooks; grandchildren, Christopher (Kay), Candyce, Shareece, Tenee, Tylan, Alexis, Jordan, Justin, Cameron, and Kennedy; five great-grandchildren and a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.
While her family and friends are shocked by her death, they are thankful for her life.
Visitation 9:00 AM and Funeral Service 10:00 AM Friday, February 23, 2024 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd.). Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

This was a big shock for me. Was not prepared for this. Living each day wondering how I will get through, and then remembering the conversation we had about raising our children, then our grands…My prayers and condolences go out to friends and family.
It is with my deepest sympathy for the loss of your love one William ( Tonya ). May God keep you and your family in peace.

Because you Anita we are better! Your presence and passion always represented the Richardson family. You loved us, supported us, and took on the task to educate us as a family. You calling me twin was special to Larry Jr and I that we acted more like brothers then cousins.
Being the family Historian you shared so much with the family and recently myself.
We miss you cousin and we honor you, I love you dearly Anita, rest now and continue to watch over us.
So many memories growing up in Whitman. Other than my father, the only one to call me Baby Girl. Missing you.
