Courtney Dominic Newland age 45, was born at Fayette County Memorial Hospital in Washington Court House, Ohio and passed away on November 18, 2016.
Courtney loved laughter, he loved people, he loved life. When he entered a room, EVERYONE knew it; even if you could not see his face, he made sure you HEARD HIS VOICE. According to Courtney, he was the World’s Best Dressed Man, a master chef, poet extraordinaire, and an all-around athlete who was soon to be inducted into the Hall of Fame; all these things were near and dear to his heart. Wherever Courtney went, people instantly fell in love with him.
For many years, he battled and fought with addiction. Although Courtney would often delight and celebrate in his days and weeks of sobriety, his sickness still had a powerful hold on him. Even through his challenges, we smile at his ability to always allow his charisma and striking personality to shine through.
Often we struggle to find reasons that can justify the loss of a such a wonderful soul who had so much to give to the world. Courtney did not want to leave this life, yet, what he would want is for us to fight for him. The disease of addiction is cruel and relentless. In times like these, it is up to us to open our hearts to those who are still sick and suffering.
Courtney would want us to pray for his surviving parents, Betty Newland and Robert “Bobby” Campbell who loved him dearly. He would want us to uplift his children Destin, Kourtney, Dominic, Akyah, Khloe, and Kailee, who all meant the world to him.  Courtney would want us to encourage and support his siblings; Richard, Yvette, Robby, Bobby Lee, and Shanae; along with a host of numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Above all else, Courtney would want us to tell his story and never forget he was an amazing person who loved us all

The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Rhema Christian Center, 2100 Agler Road, Columbus, Ohio 43224 where family will receive friends from 10:00am until the start of the service. Those who wish in lieu of flowers, may offer a monetary contribution directly to the family.

Condolences for the family of “Courtney Dominic Newland”

Condolence from Michael on December 5th, 2016 12:38 pm

Dear Newland family. I am so sorry to have read of the death of Courtney. Please accept my sincere condolences. I would like to share something that I have personally found to be comforting. It is found in the Bible at John 5:28, 29 and Revelation 21:4. These verses tell us that soon God is going to bring about a resurrection of our dear loved ones as well as do away with all causes we have for suffering, including sickness and death. Knowing this has always comforted me and it is my hope that these thoughts will comfort your family also.

Courtney possessed a rare gift called unconditional love he shared his special gift from God with everyone he knew. Although Courtney’s season here on earth was short he fulfilled his purpose from God. Now we must remember to reciprocate the gift which Courtney gave freely to each of us.

My condolence to Betty, the family and all of Courtney’s children and friends.
