Today we gather to celebrate the life of Elizabeth Cammon aka our Big Momma. She was born November 26, 1936 to Agnes and Robert Sterling.

She had one sibling, her sister named Gloria Sterling. Our Big Momma was a woman of change. She lived on to extend her family, having more children then any known ancestor before her. In addition to that, she also outlived all of her elders and immediate family. Even in death, she was a record breaker, in every aspect of the word. Big Momma lived a fruitful and productive life.

Though she is gone now, she still became the ultimate mother, auntie, role model, friend and eventually grandma to anyone who came to know her. Big Momma was a woman of recognition to anyone to ever know her! All the way down to feeding strangers and clothing them. Any life she entered, she changed it! She lived off love, integrity and loyalty. Nobody who had the grace of knowing her missed those qualities. Even when she was ready to party and live life, she still shut everything down for those she cared about, especially her children and future descendants.

As an adult she managed to avoid trouble, staying away from drugs, drinking and any other kind of nonsense that went against God’s plan for her. Ultimately, she birthed eight children: Pamela Rodgers, Kevin Cammon, Louis Felton Jr Cammon, Steven Cammon, Duane Sheilds, Elaine Sterling, Paul Cameo Sheilds and Timothy James Cammon.

Through her children she had over thirty grandchildren! Some who she even raised as her own including, Delfonte Rodgers and Steven Vaughna Cammon.

Being so selfless, she stopped living for herself. Instead, she decided to live for others. The people who came from her actions and decisions. She was that type of humble. She went onto fully give her life to Christ later on. So much so that she eventually ended up owning her own church and encouraging her children and grandchildren to follow paths she set. Big Momma taught us all to stay positive and keep our faith. She always taught us to love and keep God first.

In addition to Christ and her love for Jesus, she gave her life to her family, children, and grandchildren. And even her friends. Big Momma did everything from teaching folks how to wash themselves, to how to wash dishes, to even how to cook.

If you had the pleasure of knowing Big Momma you should be grateful!
It’s our duty to do everything in our power to keep her name, her legacy and her love ALIVE! ALWAYS AND FOREVER.
