Eugene Dave Bell was born in Alliance, Ohio on July 20, 1948, to Harrison Dempsey and Olivia Townes Bell. Both preceded him in death. Eugene was affectionally known as “Dave” by his family and friends. Dave passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023, surrounded by his family. Dave was a big man in stature and in attitude. Once you got pass his sassiness, he had a great sense of humor. He lived in Columbus, Ohio for the past nine years and was loved by many. Prior to moving to Columbus, Dave resided in Philadelphia, PA. He retired from Trigen Company, Philadelphia, where he was a welder.

Dave had four sisters; Carol Tuck (Eugene), deceased, Judith Bell, deceased, Harriet (Lorie) Bell, Canton, Ohio, and Staci Kyle (Sammy), Columbus, Ohio. We would like to acknowledge his close friend, Jewel. Dave will be missed by his sisters, nieces, nephew, great nieces and great nephews, cousins, and many friends, near and far. In Dave’s time of need, Capitol City Hospice provided him with the needed services until God called him to his heavenly home. A special thank you to Nurse Z, Case Managing Nurse, Capitol City Hospice and all who cared for him during his illness.

The Bell Family asks that you keep us in prayer during our time of bereavement. Thank you for your condolences and well wishes.

Condolences for the family of “Eugene Dave Bell”

Condolence from Ulysses Brant, Jr. on August 4th, 2023 10:54 am

Condolence to the Bell Family. Knew Dave from the Water Aerobics Class at the Jewish Center. Sorry to hear of his passing. Really nice person. Visited with him several times at his home, as he also visited with me. Found out during our conversations that he was also from Philadelphia. I was born there. Dave did have a sense of humor, but easy to talk to. Will miss him. Sorry for your loss.

Condolence from Rhonda Bell on August 6th, 2023 9:25 am

To all who knew Dave, he will be missed. Thank you, Lord, Dave is no longer sick, or in pain. To the Bell family and friends, be encouraged for God had a plan and it was fulfilled through love, patience, and kindness. Dave’s journey was not easy, but God saw that he was not alone. When he was tired and had suffered for a little while, God held his hand leading him home.

So, I say thank you Jesus for your mercy and grace. Please let Dave know he was loved through the good and bad. Ronnie

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bell family. We met Eugene, knowing him as Dave, at the JCC swim classes. We’d share some Philly stories during a Flo boxing session; share some bad back stories while outside his car parked in a JCC handicapped space. We’re glad for the time we’ve shared with Dave; we’ll remember him. With love, Michael & Jackie
