RicheyGeraldine

Lady Geraldine Richey, 69, of Ravenna Township, Portage County was born on March 5, 1955, in Clarksdale, Mississippi. She went from her earthly home on March 22, 2024, to her heavenly home.

Geraldine accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at a young age. She was an active member of Greater St. James COGIC, Fremont Ohio under the leadership of Bishop William Morgan James, where she served faithfully as choir director and Sunday school teacher.

Geraldine graduated from Fremont Ross High School and attended Terra Community College majoring in Early Childhood Education. She was married to Dennis Richey, Sr. for 44 years, marrying the love of her life on January 12, 1980. Two children LaShana and Dennis Jr were born to this union.

In 2001 Geraldine retired from Whirlpool Corporation after 15 years of dedicated service.

In 2006 she moved to Columbus to serve in the ministry along with her husband. She entered into membership at The Word Church COGIC, under the leadership of Pastor Eddie Parker III. In 2010 she supported and traveled with her husband who was appointed as National Adjutant serving Bishop Edward T Cook and Bishop Charles E. Blake.

December 2012 her husband was appointed as the Senior Pastor of the Winfield COGIC, Ravenna, OH. Lady Richey was the epitome of a First Lady, exemplifying grace and humility serving faithfully for 11 years. She was in the choir, praise team, Mother’s board, taught Bible study, and preached on assigned Sundays. She was also a member of the Ohio North First Jurisdiction and National Church Pastor’s wives’ circle. She was also a licensed Evangelist Missionary.

During her tenure and life in Ravenna she was active in the community and received a citation of merit and outstanding citizen award from Portage County Commissioners. She was also honored with numerous other awards for her dedication and commitment to the church. Lady Richey loved her family and immensely enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was also an avid shopper.

As we celebrate the life and Legacy of Lady Richey it is obvious that she was a courageous woman of great faith that lived and believed in her favorite scripture Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Lady Richey was a living miracle having experienced three different cancer diagnoses in 2007, 2014, and 2019. However, her faith in God never wavered and she never stop trusting in God and living her life! She was a living testimony of God’s healing power.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, Ennis Jones and Annie Lou Jones. Her brothers John Henry (Boot) Jones, and an infant sibling.

Geraldine leaves to cherish her memory, husband Dennis Richey, Sr. children, LaShana (Zach) Smith and Dennis Richey, Jr., grandchildren Essence Edwards, Ethan Smith, DeNaijah Richey, and Loveya Richey; sister, Betty Jones; brothers, Frank Jones and Paink Jones.

Visitation 3:00pm and Homegoing Service 4:00pm Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church, 858 E. 3rd Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43201.

Interment 10:15am Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, OH.
