Horace Rubin, Sr. 97, received his wings on April 26, 2021.

 

He was born to Olivia Deroyon (deceased) and Rodney Rubin (deceased) in New Orleans, Louisiana.

 

Horace is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Alberta Rubin, his daughters: Debra Childress and Terrie Clark-Rubin, his son Jeff Clark, his sister Ethel M. Crisp, his brothers Rodney and John Rubin and his grandchildren Anthony Thorpe and Kimberly McClendon.

 

Horace will be missed by his six children: Charles Clark, Sr. (Rinnie), Saundra Rubin, Pamela Rubin Saunders, Michelle Rubin-King, Andrea Denise & Wayne Wallace, Sr., Horace (JR) & Kamara Rubin. His siblings: Felton (Odessa) Rubin, Robert Rubin, Edward Rubin and Jane E. Treadwell, 38 Grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Horace was a World War II Veteran, serving two terms in the military, Aug. 27, 1942 – Oct. 20, 1945 and Jan. 11, 1946 – April 28, 1948. He was awarded the European Theater of Operations Ribbon with four Battle Stars, The American Defense Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Marksman Medal (all combined). He also received the American Campaign Ribbon and World War II Victory Ribbon. After serving in the military, he met the love of his life, Mary Alberta Clark. They united in matrimony in 1953 and were blessed to have nine children. He also worked for the City of Columbus Department of Public Service.

 

A Special Shout out to his special grandson, Austin Wallace, Jr. for spending countless hours with him laughing, talking, giving haircuts, making videos on social media and bonding

 

 

 

 

 

Private Visitation 9:00 AM and Private Graveside Service 12:00 PM Friday, May 7, 2021 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd.). Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery .
