Mother Janet L. McCurdy Bryant was born on February 23, 1946 to the late Walker and Virginia McCurdy in Columbus, Ohio. She went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 22, 2021.

She gave her life to Christ at a young age. As an adult, she was baptized at Glory Evangelistic Ministries Church in Bexley, Ohio under the pastorate of Pastor G. Jerome DeCarlo II, where she remained a faithful member. She met the love of her life and shared 30 loving years of marriage with Deacon Johnny Bryant. Together, they were blessed with five beautiful daughters, eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Janet was a loving woman. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family to countless neighborhood children and younger adults. She was always willing to help anyone that was in need or just be there to support and give advice during challenging times.

She was a faithful donor to non-profits such as St. Jude, Mid-Ohio Food Bank and Veterans programs. She invested in many other charitable causes that were near and dear to her heart. She loved adventure. She was always open to learn and try new things and she really enjoyed traveling. She loved to cook and was always trying new recipes with her grandchildren. If there was anyone she knew, or anyone she did not personally know who needed food, she would always cook for them; share dinner with them; or go into her freezer and pantry to provide for them. She made sure that no one would ever go hungry on her watch. She loved and adored all of her family members. She made sure to speak with her children and grandchildren every couple of days. She called her siblings, nieces and nephews faithfully on their birthdays if she had their number. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the apple of her eye. She loved spending time with them and making them laugh.

Mother Bryant is preceded in death by her parents, Walker and Virginia McCurdy; her loving husband, Deacon Johnny Bryant; siblings, Raymond McCurdy, Albert McCurdy, Alice Shellow and Ronald McCurdy; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Emma Cooper, Eva Bryant, Hilda Bryant, Clarissa Cecil and Melissa (Charles) Thompkins; Nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Geraldine Rickman and Donald McCurdy Sr.; a host of nieces, nephews, family and endless friends too numerous to name

To my beautiful cousins and family! Grace and peace be unto each of you. I was so saddened to hear of Aunt Janet’s transition, but immediately what came to my mind was her smile that she always had when you visited her. What a wonderful warm, loving aunt that I recall as a little girl being with my Uncle Johnnie, and the fun and laughter that the two of them always had, through my eyes. I remember her offering a place of refuge after loosing my mom at a young age, and when I just wanted someone to talk to, I could call who was unjudging. To each of her daughters, I am so glad that God graced you to have your mom for these years, and I am glad that she had you as you made her heart glad. May you smile each day as you remember her and may her legacy of love, strength and determination be with you and to each generation to follow. Love and praying for you all. Cousin Neicy – Richmond, VA
