John R. Edwards Jr. affectionately known as “Woody” age 69 of Whitehall, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on June 2, 2019 at the Zusman Hospice, Wexner Village.
John was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. A graduate of West High School. John was retired from The Columbus Steel Drum Company.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John R. Edwards Sr. and Pauline A. Edwards, his loving companion of 33 years, Terry L. Wade, stepbrother, Dwayne, and stepsister Ranae.
John is survived by his Stepmother, Remona Edwards, daughter, Brittany Smith, son, Richard Edwards, his siblings, Paulette Duffey, Brenda Walker, Dwight Edwards, Regina Edwards, Susan (Carl Sr) Cousar, Larry (Edith) Binford, Charles (Patricia) Lemaster, Roxanne (Michael) Schaney, grandchildren, Da’Vhantis and Kha’Z Simon, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation 2:00pm and Funeral 3:00pm Friday, June 7, 2019 at MARLAN GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave.

I’m praying for everyone in the Edwards family. I’ll miss you Woody. Each time I saw you, I saw a beautiful spirit and a kind, loving soul. I thank God for letting you and I share some time in life together. I’m truly blessed for it. God bless you family.

My heart aches for each of you at the loss of Woody but know that he is at peace in the hands of God. I remember babysitting Paulette and Woody as small children. May God keep each of you strong, full of faith and with the knowledge that he is now with Pauline and Richard.

I am very sorry for the loss of Woody. Growing up in New Albany with Keith, Woody was always around. I have many fond memories of the three of us. He will be greatly missed.
