Joyce Hairston Graham peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday evening, June 29th  2022 at the Otterbein Senior Living in Gahanna, Ohio. A special thank you to Brooksdales Senior Living and all their staff for their “Tender Loving Care” over the years. She was a lifelong resident of Columbus Ohio where she was born to the late William P. Hairston Sr. and Ella Bell Little-Hairston on February 17th, 1937. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Phillip Lee Graham of Columbus Ohio and by five brothers and three sisters: William P. Hairston II, Norman L. Hairston (Marilyn Hairston), Kenneth Hairston (Ruth Hairston) all of Gary, IN, Raymond Hairston (Lillie Hairston) and Ricky Hairston (Beverly Hairston), Lillian Shaw, Janet Carreker (Leonard Carreker), Nancy Burkes (Vincent Burkes) all of Columbus Ohio.

Joyce (aka Momma Joyce) leaves to cherish her memories and will be sadly missed by her 4 children: Judy Ann Graham-Blount (Bruce Blount), Joseph Graham (Pamela Graham), Clarence Bowles and Joi Graham (Terrell Scott), all of Columbus Ohio. Her sisters; Audrey Hairston, Sandra Hairston all of Columbus Ohio and Patty Lusk of Virginia and sister-n-law Joanne Lee of Las Vegas, Nevada, 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and longtime friends.

Joyce will be missed for her straightforwardness and her loving softhearted personality. She dearly loved to travel, play bingo, and to read her daily word. Joyce attended East High School and was a member of the Royal Star Chapter 14 International Masons and Order of the Eastern Stars of Columbus Ohio, she was also a founding member of Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church of Columbus Ohio and a longtime member of Macedonia Baptist Church as a pastor’s service aide, she was also recognized for her 21 years’ of service from Franklin County Children Services providing foster care to many children and finally she retired from the City of Columbus after 18 years of service as a Home Health Aide.

The family will receive friends at Temple of Faith Church of God in Christ, located at 1441 Brentnell Ave, Columbus, OH 43219., Friday, July 8th 10a.m. until time of the service at 11a.m. Bishop Roger J. Hairston, Sr. officiating and Bishop Norman J. Hairston as Eulogizing Minister.

Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
