Julia Virginia (McCarter) Jordan was born May 14, 1958 to the late Lewis and Margaret Fultz McCarter Bunch of Berlin, Ohio and departed this life on Monday January 17, 2022.

Julia was a graduate of Jackson High School, Class of 1976. Julia served in the Army from 1985-1989 and was stationed in Fort Carson, CO where she birthed her youngest child Margaret while serving. While in the Army Julia received an Army Service Ribbon, Army Lapel Button, Aircraft Crewman Badge, Army Good Conduct Medal, Marksmanship Badge (Rifle M-16), and an Army Commendation Medal. After departing the Army Julia and her family moved back to Ohio, where she attended Rio Grande University and graduated with an Associates Degree in Psychology. While attending Rio Grande University, Julia was in the sorority Lambda Omicron Psi. Julia also worked as a Head Start advocate before leaving Rio Grande.

Julia and her family moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1998, where she became a Franklin County Deputy Sheriff. Julia served as a deputy for seven years before getting injured at work and going out on disability retirement. While at the sheriffs department Julia was very active with her coworkers outside of work, where she was in a bowling league with them, as well as poker tournaments.

Julia was married to her longtime love for over 20 years, the late George Jordan II. Julia and George had three children: two sons, Antonio and George III, and daughter, Margaret (Rachele) Jordan. Julia has seven grandchildren and raised one of them as one of her own children, who referred to her as mom, Javion Jordan. Julia also has two more grandsons, Antonio Jordan and Kenyin Jordan-Jones. Julia has four granddaughters, Cheyenne and Camayah Jordan, and Aurea and Aliyah Cooper. She also has one bonus grandson, Thomas Glover, and one bonus granddaughter, Nautika Glover.

Julia loved her grandchildren very much and would do anything for any one of them. It wasn’t just her own grandchildren she would do anything for, but any child around her. Julia loved everyone’s kids as her own grandkids, and loved all of her kid’s friends, as her own children as well. Julia was baptized again on July 28, 2019 at Legacy Farm. Julia loved to cook and feed everyone. Cooking was very much her passion, and she was great at it. Julia loved to go to the casino, and you could find her there any given day of the week. She loved motorcycles and was in a motorcycle club at one point called the Sisters of Rage where she was known as Razz. There’s nothing that Julia would not do for anyone, even a stranger. She would give you the shirt off of her back, and the shoes off of her feet. She was truly a fighter. A SHERO!! Julia did not let cancer stop her at all. There’s nothing that you could tell Julia that she could not do. Giving up was never an option for her. She trusted very much in her Lord and praised him until her dying day. She is truly loved and will be forever missed. Thank you for your service.

Julia was preceded in death by her father, Lewis McCarter; son, Daniel Miller; bonus sister Joyce-Ann Bunch, sister, Salome McCarter; former husband, George Jordan II; and nephew, Jamel Rider. Julia is survived by her mother, Margaret Bunch; two sons, George Jordan III, and Antonio (Renee) Jordan; one daughter, Margaret Jordan; one sister, Christy (McCarter) Rider (Jerry); one brother, Artis Bunch Jr.; and one bonus brother John Bunch. Julia also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Javion and Antoinio Jordan, Kenyin Jordan-Jones, Cheyenne and Camayah Jordan, Aurea and Aliyah Cooper; bonus grandson, Thomas Glover; bonus granddaughter, Nautika Glover; two nieces, Shannon McCarter, and Olivia Rider; one nephew, Lewis (Selena) McCarter; and a host of family and friends.
