Lloyd Marshall Curtis, Jr., age 70. Sunrise April 7, 1949 and Sunset October 18, 2019. Lloyd affectionately known as “Marsh”, “Dude” or “Paw Paw”, was the eldest son of the late Maebelle and Lloyd M. Curtis, Sr.

Marsh graduated from Grove City High School in 1967. He was an outstanding basketball player who was voted Most Athletic and 2nd Team All-League honors in high school. He was a School Bus, Motor Coach, and Transit Driver. He retired from Ohio State University after many years of service.

Marsh was an avid sports fan! He loved The Browns and remained a season ticket holder regardless of their record. He always supported his grandchildren and attended their athletic events. He enjoyed listening to jazz music and reading Daily Bread every day. One of Marsh’s favorite things was eating home cooking from his sister and daughters.

Lloyd M. Curtis, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory 3 children, Kelli Jones, Crystal Bangura and Jacob (Terra) Curtis; 10 grandchildren, Chrischele McDaniel, Jordan Cummings, Tarin Mack, Kazmin Jones, Sydnie Bangura, Kirbie Jones, Curtis Jones, Daniel Bangura, Zion Bangura and Jaela Curtis; 4 great grandchildren, Noelle McDaniel, Julius Cummings, Robyn Kahindo and Kylen Head-Harvey; sister, Diane (Carl) Roberts and brother, Michael (Cheryl) Curtis; former spouse, Irma Norita Curtis; lifelong friends, Louie Willard, George Morris, Pete Evans, the Trout Family and a host of aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

To the Curtis Family: while you don’t know me, I knew Lloyd well in high school. I was the JV basketball coach when he played varsity for GCHS. Not only was he a good basketball player, but he was also one of our best young men as well as a leader on the team. He was our point guard, a position that calls for a leader. Lloyd contributed greatly to the success Grove City High School enjoyed in those years. I was proud to have been a small part of his high school career. I am sorry that our paths never crossed again. Please accept my heartfelt condolences for your loss. I’m sure that his good life as a high school student continued throughout his adult life.

Condolence from Sim Coleman on October 25th, 2019 1:14 pm

Lloyd was truly one of the best people I have had the pleasure of knowing during my lifetime. I played recreational basketball with him at the downtown YMCA and he had a great jump shot. More important than anything else, he was a great person. Jake, you probably do not remember me from your Dad bringing you downtown to play ball. May God comfort you and your family as only he can. My prayers will include your family.

Condolence from Doug Godwin, Marysville, OH on October 28th, 2019 2:53 pm

Had the good fortune of working with Lloyd at Accuray in the’70s; we worked in the same dept., but Lloyd worked nights for a while so I didn’t get to know him until he went on days. He joined the intramural basketball league and was always the best on the court, even against the former college players. Always a team player. Very good to work with, very intelligent. He made me a Grove City BB fan. Didn’t realize that we were born three weeks apart. Your loss is way too soon. Your family will be in my prayers.

Condolence from Rodney Jones on October 30th, 2019 2:06 pm

I too had the pleasure of knowing Lloyd. We played on the same intramural team at Accuray. He was a “baller”- the best. More than that, he was a kind decent man. To the Curtis family: My sincere condolences. He undoubtedly will be among those who hear the voice of Christ and come out. (John 5:28,29)
I have nothing but fond memories of him.
Rodney Jones
