Luwana Virginia Edwards Hall, 81, of Columbus, Ohio transitioned to be with Lord February 5, 2021, with her family by her side.  She was born the second daughter to the late Margaret Lilly Lee Batie Edwards and late James Adam Edwards, April 5, 1939, in Columbus, Ohio.  Luwana was a graduate of East High School and received an Bachelors of Science in Education from the Ohio State University.  Retired from the State of Ohio Department of Insurance where she was Insurance Investigator.

She was a loving wife married to Arthur David Hall, residing in Columbus, Ohio for 21 years.  The other loves of her heart were her three children from a previous marriage:  Prenezetta Perry Layne, of Columbus, Ohio; Juan Perry, of San Francisco, CA; and Lisa Perry, of Vallejo, CA and her grandchildren: V. Valentina Harris/Fiancé Ryan Jefferson, Lisa Harris (deceased) and Ricca Mullins and six great-grandchildren Niamya Luwana Mullins, Issisa G. Jones, Malachi A. Mullins, Zora R. Harris, Serenity R. Harris and Solomon V. Harris.

As a young adult she was a member of a prominent community social group. There is a picture memorialized at the Martin Luther King Center and Spring Street freeway overpass in honor of the group’s contributions to the community.  Luwana committed her life to Christ and as a faithful member of Northside Church of God, founded by her late mother Margaret Edwards, she enjoyed singing in the choir, working in the women’s ministry and led a national ministry for singles called The Christian Singles United Fellowship for singles in the National Association of the Church of God. Luwana was later a faithful member of New Haven Church, pastor Rev. Gaius Griffea.

Luwana loved God and her family with all her heart. Mom was a wonderful cook.  Mom’s pound cake and homemade rolls were just two of her many highly sought out family favorite requests for visits home, holidays and family gatherings.  Her large family of ten were a source of comfort and pride:  Rhodell Valentine/George Valentine, Lushanya Lewis/Herman Lewis (both deceased), Sybil Edwards-McNabb (deceased)/Ronald McNabb, James Edwards/Earlene Edwards, Sharlene Morgan/Michael Morgan (both deceased), Nancy Jones/Samuel Jones (deceased), L’Tonya Lemon/Lonnie Lemon (both deceased), Nadine Williams, Joseph Edwards (deceased). Mom’s loving heart made family with many others she lovingly embraced: James Curry, Kathie Woods, Bosidea Robinson, Susan “Spanky” Stewart, and Jonathan Little.

Luwana leaves a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and two godchildren: Alan Ware and Waurkeeta Richardson-Bost, and her god-sister Barbara Tolber.  Many dear friends, special mention Gaye Tyree, Juanetta Alford, Delores Black, Quincy Dunn.   Mom is now celebrating with her other special friends in glory Carrie Gardner, Elsworth Jackson, Ann Bing, Tess, and Barbara Johnson.  There are so many other friends and former work colleagues she leaves behind to mourn her departure.

Condolence from Zuline and Jean and Family on April 5th, 2021 1:09 pm

Dear Family,
We are unable to be with you for this time of celebrating the life of Luwanna. However,we join you in spirit. Our hearts ache when we consider we will no longer experience her laughter, see her radiant smile or hear her advice. And,of course, we won’t enjoy her great sense of style — the hats, heels and matching nails! Luwanna was a big sister who was “real”about the issues of life. Spiritual pragmatism was part of who she was. I appreciated her so much. Her words
” You’re going to be all right “carried me through some of my darkest days.
Family, we mourn with you and celebrate Luwanna. We loved her and are grateful that our lives intertwined. God bless you and strengthen you.
With love,

Condolence from Renee (Carol) Bing on April 5th, 2021 1:40 pm
