The Late May (Gardner) Dixon was born December 18, 1917 in Paducah Kentucky to the Union of Mr. Charles Gardner and Beulah Enders Gardner.
Mrs. Dixon was married to Arthur Dixon in Cairo, Illinois they moved to East St. Louis, Illinois. Where she resided for many years. She worked for a Jewelry Store in St. Louis Mo. until she retired. She was also a great cook: She loved cooking for her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Then Moved to Columbus Ohio in 2011 and resided until her death.
Mrs. May Dixon departed this life January 4, 2014 she was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Charles Gardner Sr. & Mrs. Beulah Enders Gardner, her husband Arthur Dixon, two brothers Charles Gardner Jr. Earl Winston. Five sisters: Lanelle Jones, Tempy Mae Gardner, Theola Lewis, Emma Parnell, and Ruth Holt.
Mrs. May Dixon leaves to cherish her memories Four daughters: Doris Jones of Reynoldsburg, OH., Carolyn (Anthony) Diggs of Columbus, OH. Sharon Mims of Cahokia, IL. Delica Dixon of Council Bluff Iowa, Three sons: Danny (Irene) Dixon of Germany, Leonard (Patrice) Dixon & Robert Dixon of Chicago, IL., Two sisters: Naomi Burgess of Fairview Heights, IL., & Lena (Harold) Adams of Conyers, GA.
We will miss your loving smile and long conversations great meals and much LOVE. You were always giving something of yourself. You made a difference in the world and with your family. You’ll always be in our hearts. Your saying “ALL-RIGHT” yes mama everything is all right. May God Bless you mama. Rest in Peace

Grandmother, I love and miss you very much. you have taught me so many important things about being a woman. To first Love God, take care of my children and to get a good education. Mama for months you had been waiting at the Gates of Heaven wondering when God was going to allow you to come through the gates. On Jan 4, 2014, God dispatched the Death Angel to open the gates for you. You are finally resting in the bossom of the Lord

I've had the pleasure of working with Sharon Mims, Miss May's daughter, for the past 5 years. Sharon shared many stories of her love for her mother during this time. Knowing the type of woman Sharon is, is a direct reflection of the love she must have received from her mother and family. I am glad to call Sharon a friend and my heart goes out to her and her family at this time of loss.

Ms. Dixon was a wonderful person. She was so smart and witty ! I remember all the wisdom she shared with us all. She will be missed ! Love and blessing to her Family, of which I consider myself a member of. Smile

Just because I am laying here in a new bed, just because it seems like 2am lifeless, my life, my spirit lives in you. I shall live forever. Just because you can't physically touch me that is why I can touch you in spirit which still lives. Just because I love you, you will always live in my heart and spirit. Just because Jesus loves us. Jerian, I am just praying and asking for peace and comfort for you and your family. When my mom and sister passed, the most comforting words I received were to hold on to the BEST memories I had with each of them. I encourage you to do the same. In your darkest hour of grief, hold on to your BEST memory, and allow it/them to keep you lifted.

Sharon, it is with great sadness to hear of the passing of your beloved mother but my prayers of peace are with you and your family. The bible tells us that only our God is able to heal the broken heart and give you peace that will pass all understanding. John 14:1-3 reminds us "es;Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in me, In my father's house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you so. I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am you there ye may be also. God has come to take back what belong to him and took her to a prepared place, for a prepared person, to live out eternity with Him. God has left you with very precious memories to hold dearly in your heart. Our God is only a prayer away, awaiting to comfort you and your family at a moments notice. With much love and much prayer.

You were an exceptional lil lady…I thank you for all of the love and wisdom that you put into this family…that I now call my own…in my time of knowing you, I've learned that you were the glue that held everything and everyone together. Your sense of humor and all of that sass made you a joy to be around (I now know where Kennedi gets it from). I will be sure to be apart of keeping your tradition of being a close knit family alive. While it was so sad to see you transition, I feel at peace knowing that you are now in no more pain. Thank God for the precious memories and may you rest peacefully. We love you…and your legacy will continue.
And to my family…I am praying for all of you daily…I love you all so much and I am here if you guys need anything. We will get through this time of pain and hurt together…one day at a time.

What a blessing it was to have met such a beautiful woman! I remember visiting her in East St.Louis for the first timeand me not wanting to leave. Tomorrow Marks 9 months that you went to be with Jesus. We met this past weekend as a memorial to your life. We all agree that you were something special to each one of us. We miss you beyond measure, but the Lord did bless you to be on earth for 96 full years. Love you so much, more than words can say
