Melvin Leon Allen, Sr., aka Buck, of Keystone, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord Monday morning on May 9, 2022, at his residence. He was born on August 5th, to Walter Allen and Viola Lee Allen. Melvin was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He dedicated his life to the Lord as a long member of Pilgrim Baptist Church, and Hopewell Baptist Church where he sang in the chorus.

Melvin was a dedicated employee with Columbus City School for 30 years, working at the Ft. Hayes Bus Compound as a mechanical technician. He spoke frequently about his co-workers and the joy they shared. He retired after 30 years of service. He was a high-ranking member of the Fraternal Order Knights of Pythias for many years. The Knights of Pythias were known for their kindness and instrumental in giving back and serving the community.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers; one sister; and one wife, Edna Allen; and two stepdaughters, Brenda Allen (Mitchell) and Jennifer Allen (Dewitt). He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted and loving wife of 25 years, Julia Harris Hunter Allen; daughter, Lynn Allen; son, Melvin Leon Allen, Jr.; grandson, Curtis Allen Fox; one brother in Roanoke, Virginia, Walter Allen; a host of loving nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Susie Commons; three brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; lodge brothers; and members of Hopewell Baptist Church.

Melvin “Buck” Allen
& Family of (Julia)
Our condolences. Helen & Family
Mel, it’s been a long time, since we met. We ended sharing good friends with each other, my husband Joe & your wife Julia. We shared our fun of going to the Casinos & spending nights on our getaways together, meeting at the food truck at Ft. Hayes, sharing donuts! Lodge trips by bus. Julia and I shared two great men that will meet again in Heaven, don’t you guys have too much fun without! We’ll take care of each other until God sees fit for us to meet again.
Love you,
Helen L Combs-Dulaney
