It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Latonya Ann Palmer. Born on April 3, 1964, in Mansfield, OH, Latonya embraced life with a vibrant spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew her. She departed from this world on March 27, 2024, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories that will forever live on in the hearts of her loved ones.

Latonya was a devoted mother to her three sons Andre Kent, Ahmed N. Palmer and Ashon Palmer and a beloved daughter to her mother Betty Ann Palmer-Harris and stepfather the late James Harris, sister to Larry D. (Glenda) Taylor, Cynthia E. Palmer, Sharon D. Palmer, Joan L. Palmer, and grandmother of nine. She was also preceded in death by her brother Ricky L. Palmer, stepfather James E. Harris and grandmother Fannie Mae Fain.

In Elementary Latonya excelled in Gymnastics, Junior High she played Basketball and High School she participated in Track and Field. As a proud graduate of Mansfield Senior High and Capital University, she excelled in her academic pursuits, earning a Bachelor’s degree and laying the foundation for a successful career. Latonya’s dedication to education and her community was evident in her involvement in various organizations, including being a Subscribing Life Member and Executive Committee Member the NAACP, the Democratic Women’s Caucus, and the founder of Perfect Peace Prison Project.

A woman of faith, Latonya found solace and strength in her spiritual beliefs. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where she was baptized, and more recently, joined Providence Baptist Church, where she found a deep sense of belonging and community. Latonya’s commitment to service extended beyond her faith communities, as she dedicated her time and energy to supporting those in need through her work at Mansfield Umadaop and McDonald’s Restaurant.

In her free time, Latonya found joy in the simple pleasures of life which included spending time with her family during summer time picnics and gatherings and embarking on new adventures through travel. Latonya also loved her house plants. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her impact on those around her was immeasurable. Latonya’s legacy of love, compassion, and resilience will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
