Reginald Allen Lampkins was born April 23, 1954 in Columbus, Ohio to Lois Ann (Bolding) Lampkins and Robert Lee Lampkins. “Reggie” as he was fondly known was the oldest child born to his parents.
Reggie was educated in the Columbus Public School system and graduated from Linden-McKinley High School. Young and ambitious Reggie was driven to succeed and took a job at The Ohio State University. Reggie went on to work at Buckeye Steel while exploring his desire to further his education. Reggie’s ambition led him to attend Kent State University. To support his educational endeavors, he worked driving the campus bus. Reggie cultivated his love of music and would often host campus parties to make extra money. This venture earned him the campus nick name “Reggie Romance”. To this day his impressive music collection is a source of pride and kept catalog style in the crates. Reggie became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and served the organization through many fraternal activities (State Director, Vice Great Lakes Regional Director) Financial Life Member # 1074. Reggie proudly earned his Bachelor’s degree in Logistics in Transportation from Kent State and developed a life-long commitment to excellence.
Reggie was a valued employee of Rodeway Trucking Company for over ten years with perfect attendance. He continued his passion in the transportation industry, working for the Central Ohio Transit Authority as the Radio Room Supervisor and later driving for Urban Express where he retired last year. Reggie was a strong advocate for higher education, and a mentor to young Black men.
Reggie lived life fully, and possessed an undeniable presence of familiarity, never meeting a stranger. He was authentic, bold, outspoken with a special sense of humor. He cherished and developed life-long friendships who are truly like family. Reggie was the ultimate provider to his family a proud father/grandfather always willing to help family and friends. He enjoyed family vacations, traveling and dining at some of the best eateries around town.
Reggie was preceded in death by his father Robert Lampkins and sister Michelle Maria Burns. He held a special place in his heart for his maternal grandmother, Lucille Tommie Bolding.
Reggie leaves a legacy and survived by his mother Lois Lampkins, brother(s) Aaron (Cynthia) Lampkins, Blythe (Latonia) Lampkins. Diane Lampkins, two beautiful daughters Cecily Scott and Jazmin Lampkins; five grandchildren Corrie Rhynehardt, Carson McDaniel, Clarke Scott, Cruz Scott and Bellamy Bridges. His beloved nephews, Martai Burns, Marques Burns, Andre (Erica) Lampkins, Juan Lampkins, Brandon Lampkins and Bradley Lampkins, one niece Janay Bass. His best friend Debra Porter-Sawyer. His extended friend family list is extensive and include the Sawyers, Parkers, Phi Beta Sigma, Kent State and Linden McKinley.
Visitation 11:00AM and Funeral Service 12:00PM Friday, February 21, 2020 at COP East, 5456 E. Livingston Ave.

I am very sadden by your lost. I have known Reggie all my life and will miss his contagious laugh and smile. My heart goes out to his beautiful daughter, grandkids, mother and brothers. Know that my prayers and thoughts are with you.

Our heart goes out to you in your time of sorrow.
We were saddened and it came as such a surprise to hear of Reggie’s passing. He helped us buy our first house years ago and then we found ourselves neighbors. A few years later he came to work at Cota where my husband and I worked, so we were friends for years. He certainly will be missed! Condolences to the family.
Reggie was a good man and will be missed by all who knew him! Rest in peace my friend, until we meet again.
We can’t begin to imagine what you are feeling, but please let us share our heartfelt condolences. May your memories console you and may God sustain you, with his precious promise to someday soon reunite us with our love ones. Truly sorry for your loss.
Reggie and I worked together at New York Life back in the mid 90’s. We kept in touch over the years but hadn’t spoken over the last few. Reggie was a good soul and we alway’s shared a laugh and a serious conversation when we talked. I’m so sorry for your family’s loss. He will be missed.
