Taureen “Tory” Donald Tinsley, age 37, was born June 22, 1983 in Washington, D.C. to late Donald Tinsley and the late Denise (Johnson) Tinsley. He departed this life unexpectedly on May 12, 2021.

Tory was a resident of Columbus, Ohio at the time of his passing. He attended Maryland Public Schools where he played football and excelled as a gymnast. Tory later joined the Job Corps in Pennsylvania where he trained as an engineer for three years. While there, he made some lifelong friends and met the mother of his son. He also worked as an automotive detailer.

Tory gave his life to Christ at an early age. He was a member of Christian Tabernacle Church of God in Washington, D.C. where he was an active member of youth services.

Tory loved to spend the summer with his Aunt Sara in Columbus, Ohio and go on their family vacations to Disney and Virginia Beach.

Tory was preceded in death by his biological mother, Denise (Johnson) Tinsley; father, Donald Tinsley; maternal grandparents, Benjamin and Margaret Johnson; paternal grandparents, loving and devoted grandparents, Reverend Juanita Sharpe and Ceredo (Henry) Madison Ramsey; and uncles, David Sharpe and Ramon Ramsey.

Tory leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted parents, Nathaniel and Edna (Ramsey) Johnson; son, Dayvon Tinsley; daughters, Trinity Davis, DeiJanae Marshall, NaDejah Marshall, and Myanna Tinsley; brother, Bernard Johnson; uncles, Maurice Johnson, Hamlin Johnson, and John (Patricia) Ramsey; aunts, Sara Giles, Cleopatra Smith, and Lisa Sharpe; special friend, Christina Caruthers; and a host of cousins and lifelong friends.

Private Visitation 1:00 PM and Private Funeral Service 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Masks, Social Distancing and Tickets are required.

Interment at Eastlawn Cemetery.

I knew T and he even stayed with us for a short period of time. T was a terrific person. I have thought of him often over the last couple of years. I’m really upset to hear about his passing. T loved and protected those around him. He will be missed.
