Bernard Lavon Stephens was born on December 29, 1969 to the late Roosevelt Jackson and Peggy Samuel-Brooks in Andalusia, Alabama. Bernard gained his wings peacefully on May 4, 2024 at Ohio Health Mansfield.
Bernard was an employee of Blevins Fabrication. He adored his mother, children, grandchildren and siblings. Bernard loved fishing with his cousin, Walter Bonham and son, Bernard Jr., spending time with family & friends, watching westerns, joking around, working on cars with his Gordon family and just being a helping hand in a time of need.
Bernard’s all-time favorite saying was “IT IS WHAT IT IS”
Bernard leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Peggy Samuel–Brooks; 1 son, Bernard Stephens Jr.; 1 daughter, Elexcia Flowers; 1 brother, Gregory (Linda) Jackson of Defuniak Springs, Fla.; 4 sisters, Lorna Ball of McKenzia, Ala., Vivian Berry of Clarksville, Tennessee, Stephanie Samuel and Tracy Crawford of Mansfield, OH.; 3 grandsons, NaMeer Kent, Aundreek Taylor and Nazyrr Stephens; 6 granddaughters, Na’Kyha, NyKayla, Lyric, Londyn, Laniyah & Leila Stephens; 1 uncle, Davis Stephens of Woodruff, SC; 4 nephews, Paris Davis Sr., Raekwon Sewell, Malon Samuel and Christina Berry; 3 nieces, London, Le’India and Malaysia Samuel and a host of beloved cousins and friends.
Bernard was preceded in death by his father, Roosevelt Jackson; sister, Shambre Jackson; maternal grandmother, Irene Jackson; 2 aunts, Vivian Chester and Darnell Blue.
Visitation 11:00 AM and Funeral Service 12:00 PM Saturday, May 11, 2024 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, MANSFIELD CHAPEL,753 McPherson St. (formerly Williams Funeral Services).
