Patricia Ann Byrd, age 80. Sunrise November 25, 1943, and Sunset March 29, 2024.

Patricia was born to Jimmy Moreland, Sr., and Leila Mae Moreland. Patricia grew up in the Fly town area on the West side of Columbus, Ohio. Years later, the family moved to the East side of Columbus, Ohio, on Franklin Avenue. Patricia attended Franklin Junior High and East High School. Patricia met her only husband, Frederick William Byrd, Jr. at a Halloween party in 1958, and married him in 1960.

Patricia attended Bethel Baptist Church for many years, where she sang in the choir, and played piano. Patricia later became a member of the Mt. Period Baptist Church, where she also played piano and sung in the choir for many years. Patricia also sung in the gospel group Gods Inspirational Singers with her daughter, Valorie, sister from another mother, Pamela Floyd Smith, and others. The group sang in different cities in the Midwest, as well as various churches, and venues around the central Ohio area for many years. Patricia loved playing the piano, singing, and entertaining people with her talents while serving the Lord. Patricia always stated, “that it was all for the Almighty God”.

Patricia is preceded in death by her late husband, Frederick William Byrd; father, Jimmy Moreland Sr., mother, Leila Mae Moreland; and sister, Rosa L. Jordan.

She is survived by her three (3) children, Tobious William (Lynn ) Byrd, Valorie Denise Byrd and Myron Raynard (Shaunielle Adale) Byrd; five (5) siblings, Martha Harriston, Jimmy Moreland Jr, Mary Brown, and Craig (Belle) Moreland Sr.; two (2) sisters from another mother, Barbra Davis and Pamela Floyd Smith; sister in-law, Debra Byrd; cousin, Trummie Moreland eleven (11) grandchildren, Sheronda Byrd Givens, Amber N. Byrd Jackson, Lotrell L. Byrd, Myron R. Byrd Jr, Dominique M. Byrd, Aylyse M. Byrd, Tamyra K. Byrd, Cyril M. Byrd, Dorian L. Ashford, Darell R. Byrd, and Cierra M. Ashford; fifteen (15) great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, friends, and loved ones.

Now all of her worries are over, and she can entertain as she sings with that choir in Heaven. She’s singing and playing the piano alongside the angels in that Heavenly choir for the Almighty God, and for his son Jesus Christ…Glory Hallelujah!

We are grateful for the invaluable care provided by the staff at Mt. Carmel Hospice, the staff at Meadow Grove Transitional Care Center, and Trumanpointe Transitional Care Center. Aunt Pat was always full of joy every time I seen her. Even when I visit her in her later years, she always had that beautiful smile on her face. Yes I’m sure there were some down moments, but that smile was so bright and I’ll never forget how beautiful she was on the inside and out.
