Dollie Birdsong Thurman Holt was born on October 8, 1950 in Rome, Georgia to Earnest Birdsong and Annie Birdsong. She went home to be with the Lord after several health issues on July 25, 2023.

She was the Bishop of A Better Way of Life Ministries, a ministry that she was devoted to and loved. If you knew her you knew that she was a woman who truly loved the Lord and trusted the Lord in everything. Bishop loved her ministry and loved her family. There wasn’t anything that she wouldn’t do for both. A devoted daughter, mother, sister, auntie, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. To know her was to love her.

Bishop Dollie graduated from Central High School in Columbus, Ohio. Bishop Dollie retired from the Columbus City Schools after driving for 30 years. She also had a love for the game of football and was an expressive fan of her Cincinnati Bengals and her Ohio State Buckeyes. She loved music and loved to dance. She especially loved her grandchildren, and enjoyed fellowship of friends and family. Her favorite phrase was ‘Come on Somebody”.

She was preceded in death by her father, Earnest Birdsong; sister, Shirley Lanesa Birdsong; son, Rashaun D. Thurman and a list of other relatives.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving family and ex-husbands, Charles Thurman and Richard Holt; children, Tonia Nichols (Kenneth Nichols), Brian Birdsong, Charles Thurman (Willa Thurman). She also leaves her mother, Annie Birdsong; brothers, Michael Birdsong (Gwen Birdsong) of Lithonia Georgia, Terry Byrdsong of Atlanta Georgia, Craig Birdsong (Angie Birdsong), Norcross Georgia, Ricky Birdsong of Columbus Ohio, Dwayne Birdsong of Columbus, Ohio; half- sisters, Kelly Glass, Amanda Sweeney, Yolanda Hunt of Columbus, Ohio; aunts, Helen Byrdsong and Vera Mathis, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many extended family and close friends.

Visitation 9:00 AM and Funeral Service 10:00 AM Saturday, August 5, 2023 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd.).

Interment at Evergreen Burial Park.
