Our Dear Mother, Dana Y. Darthard, was suddenly granted her wings on December 18, 2023. She will be loved, missed, and never forgotten. Dana was born August 29, 1959, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the youngest daughter of Charles Verse and Dardanella Darthard.

Dana was affectionately called “Donna” or “Dana D” by family and friends. She was baptized at Tabernacle Baptist Church, and she received her High School diploma from South High School in Columbus, Ohio.

Dana was a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, as well as an amazing friend. She was always there when you needed her. She also didn’t take no nonsense from anybody. She was fearless, loved to dance, and put smiles on everybody’s faces around her. Dana beat cancer four times. She had a heart of gold. Dana was known to always be smiling. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Dana is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Verse and Dardanella Darthard, sister, Tommeye S. Jennings, brother, Kevin V. Darthard Sr., (Bubbie), grandchildren, Ricky A. Darthard and Scott Darthard Jr., and her best friend, Monica West McGhee.

Dana is survived by her three children, Ricky Darthard, Brandi Darthard, and Scott Darthard, sister, Charlene Dalton, grandchildren, Kennedy Wilkerson, Angel Tatum, Kevin Darthard, Keivon Darthard, Gabby Darthard, Andre Darthard, Jeavion Darthard, Ti’Coshuena Swanson, Neveah Hollingsworth, Kyah Hairston, and two of her thirty plus friends, Rosetta Adams and Debra Williams.

Visitation 9:00 AM and Funeral Service 10:00 AM Saturday, January 6, 2024 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd.).

Interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
