Mildred Lacina Janet Hairston was born on September 12, 1943, in Maybeury, West Virginia to the union of Samuel Henry and Iown (Cofer) Hairston.  She transitioned peacefully from this life at The Ohio State University Hospital on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at the age of 79.

Mildred was baptized, at an early age, at Mariah Baptist Church, in Maybeury, West Virginia.

She was employed by Owens Illinois (later known as Techneglas) and retired from her position after 32 years of faithful service. She enjoyed playing cards, having fun, and loved being with her family.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings; Freda Hairston, George Hairston, Velma Mae Bushner, and Garland Hairston Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memory, son; Johnny L. Hairston Sr. (Rochelle), daughter; Mechelle E. Hairston (John), sister; Diane Hairston Hughes and brother;  McGlenard Hairston Sr., all of Columbus, Ohio, eight grandchildren; Tiffany Smith, Johnny Hairston, Jr., Taylor Hariston, Tiana Smith, Joante’ Hairston, Taylor Hairston, Jaonne’ Hairston, Javin Hairston, and D.J. Hairston, nine (9) great grandchildren, special friend; Louise Thomas, and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Mildred will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Visitation 1:00 PM and Memorial Service 2:00 PM Saturday, March 4, 2023 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave.
