Angie Lee Hagans, age 86, passed away on July 23, 2023 after a long illness. She was born on August 6, 1936 in Springfield, OH to the late Robert and Mamie (Scott) Newby.

Angie graduated from Springfield High School where she played the violin and was a proud Debutante. She served in the childcare industry for over 40 years. including having her own home childcare business. She was a dedicated member of Central Chapel AME Church, where she served as Missionary President, Steward Board, Choir member, Sunday School Superintendent and taught Sunday School along with many other church activities.

She loved baking pies and many know her chicken pie was unmatched. Angie was an excellent seamstress, she sowed not only for her family but her friends and neighbors as well.

Angie is preceded in death by her brothers, Ray, Richard and Robert Pete Newby; sisters, Prudene Brandon and Juanita Hagans, also her step-son, Robert M. Hagans, Jr.

She is survived by her loving husband, Rev. Dr. Robert M. Hagans, Sr.; daughters, Robin (Raymond) Mickens, (Columbus, OH), Cynthia (Chris) Moore (Cleveland Heights, OH); son, Leonard (Melinda) Newby, (Tarpon Springs, FL); step-children, Nina Harris, Sharon Lockhart, Patricia Smith, and James E. Howard, Jr. all of (Springfield, OH); brother, Ted (Thelma) Newby, (Cedarburg, WI); sisters, Karen Newby Young, (Springfield, OH), Nancy Bernice Davis, (Milwaukee, WI), several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
