Rose Marie Tate, a beloved member of the Columbus community, passed away on September 17, 2023, at the age of 59. Born on January 3, 1964, in Yanceyville, NC, Rose was the loving daughter of Leonard and Marie Tate.

Rose dedicated herself to caring for others through her role as a Patient Care Assistant at The Ohio State University Medical Center for an impressive 30 years. Her commitment to her profession earned her numerous accolades, including the prestigious Employee of the Month award, showcasing her exceptional service and compassion towards patients. Beyond her career, Rose was a devoted member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, where her faith guided her actions and interactions with those around her. She exemplified kindness and generosity in every aspect of her life, touching the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In Rose’s spare time, she found joy in reading, and immersing herself in Western movies. Her love for literature sparked intellectual conversations and inspired those around her to broaden their horizons. Rose also had a passion for travel and embarked on countless memorable adventures, including numerous cruises that allowed her to explore new places and create everlasting memories.

Rose shared a deep bond with her family and cherished their moments together. She was a devoted sister to her brother Larry Tate, whom she visited annually in North Carolina, ensuring his well-being and nurturing their sibling connection. Rose’s strong sense of family extended beyond blood relations, as she considered her sister/friend Delores Richardson and her family to be an integral part of her life. Family and friends looked forward to her showing up with cheesecakes for every occasion. Rose is known for her unwavering faith, Rose was a prayer warrior, offering support comfort to those in need. Her role as the family’s blessing giver at gatherings embodied her spirit of gratitude and love.

Rose was always a giver. Even in her passing she gave the gift of sight by donating her corneas. Rose will be missed by her family, Larry, Denise, Sally, Lorraine, loving uncle and aunt George and Cindy Slade, and special niece Maya.

A celebration of Rose’s life will be held on September 22, 2023, at the Chapel of Peace – East, with the funeral commencing at 12:00 pm. Prior to the service, friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at 11:00 am. Rose will be entombed at the Green Lawn Cemetery, located at 1000 Green Lawn Ave, Columbus, OH 43223. While Rose Marie Tate may have left this earthly realm, her spirit of compassion, kindness, and love will forever be remembered. She brought joy to the lives of those she encountered and made the world a brighter place. She leaves behind a legacy of selflessness that will continue to inspire others to be better people.

    Of a very sweet woman. My loss also Of a dear friend. Rose and I work together at a higher State University For ten years. Between 1990 and 2000. She also took care of me when I was a patient 2020. That was a very nice video. I watched her grow from a young lady into a Elegant woman. I will miss her, My thoughts and prayers will be with you and the family today.

    How this hurts, all of her letters to me were lost in house fire, now all I do have is the memory of being called lovingly as “”unca Robert”” and her way of making her people feel special.sleep in him dear heart .the morning cometh.

    Rose Marie Antoinette was a friend since childhood. We grew up on the same street, and attended the same high school until upon graduation, we took different career paths. Although I only had the pleasure of seeing her far too few times in the subsequent years, I’ll carry the memory her gentle spirit with me. RIP.

  9. My husband and I met though Rose 35 years ago at church bible study. She was a joy to hang out with. This hurt about as much as lossing a sister. She was a very strong willed person. We will miss her so much
