John Larry Smith, Sr. (Johnny) (Pops), was born to Charles and Verna Smith on October 30, 1955. He was the youngest of seven siblings.
John was a self-made mechanic that loved cars. John was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John on July 15, 2022.
John Larry Smith, Sr. is preceded in death by his daughter; Monica Renee’ Smith, parents; Charles and Verna Smith, brothers; Clifford and Wayne Smith, sister; Phyllis Udoh, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory, stepdaughter; Erica LaDawn Fompun, daughter; LaToya Denise Smith, sons; John (Hazcii) Larry Smith, Jr., Jayson Anthony McDade, Antwon (Fayrn) Maurice McDade, 14 grandchildren and one on the way, sisters; Shirley Rikard, Martha (Roger) Cosby and Marie Edwards.
John Larry (Johnny) (Pops) will be forever missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Visitation 1:00 PM and Funeral Service 2:00 PM Saturday, August 6, 2022 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd).
