Anna Ruth Hazley-Seals, also known as Bootsie/Bootleg/Momma Seals, was born on Saturday, February 22, 1943 in Akron, Ohio. She was born the fourth of five children of her parents Sweetie Mae Bridges-Hazley and Robert Houston Hazley II. As a child Bootsie was feisty, independent, and strong-minded child. She would live her life as she saw fit, and no one could detour her decisions. Anna married the love of her life on August 11, 1062. She stayed married to her husband for 59 years and reared four children. Anna and her husband resided in Akron for many years after getting married. Eventually the decision was made to relocate to Warren, Ohio to support her husband and his occupation of choice. Anna packed up and made the move. After seeing each of her four children through high school, anna and her husband decided that one last move to Columbus, Ohio would be best because of health issues.

Bootsie was employed for some years during her lifetime, but her passion was in being a wife and homemaker and raising their children. She retired from raising her children in June of 1988, but her motherly and wifely duties continued until her passing on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.

Bootsie was preceeded in passing by her parents Sweetie Mae Bridges-Hazley and Robert Houston Hazley II; 4 siblings; Viola Pearl Hazley-Williams, Geraldine Louise Hazley Williams, Flora Elaine Hazley-Smith and Robert Houston Hazley III; 2 grandchildren, Tashay Eugenia Cherelle Hunter and Dezmon Morre’ll Davis.

Surviving family members include her husband Paul Seals Jr.; four children Robert Paul Seals, Marlin Earl Seals, DeeAnna Lynn Seals-Davis, and Eugenia Louise Seals-McMillion; 8 grandchildren plus one bonus granddaughter, Dominique Shanel Sims; 12 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Condolence Messages

  1. Dear Cousin Paul and Family:
I was heart broken to learn of Anna’s passing. However, there is GRACE and SOLICE in knowing she’s no longer in pain. Thank you for choosing Miss Anna to be your wife. What a loving couple. We’ve known you both since childhood. We’ve had many, many good times full of laughter and good food whenever you and your fun-loving wife were in our presence. Wherever Anna showed up we knew we were in for a gut-bustin’ good time. Those are the memories I’ll hold on to.
MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU & YOUR FAMILY DURING THIS TIME OF LOSS.
    I LOVE YOU, COUSIN PAUL.

    Sincerely,
    Ella Jean Fields

To be absent from the body, is to be present with Christ Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:8. Sending my deepest condolences to Robert and the entire family of the late Mrs. Seals. I had the pleasure to be in her midst a few times and she surely left an impact with her wit, old sayings and spunk. Praying for peace as your hearts grieve and the lasting joy that her memory will forever be a blessing.

I love this woman with everything in me, Im no blood to her but this woman is my grandmother, I met her in 1985 when I was only 4weeks old someone was suppose to babysit me an took me to her house and she babysat me, she was 41yrs old at the time, no grand children so she fell in love with me an I fell in love with her, she became my God mother but I called her grandma, an her an my grandpa Paul Seals had me all the time as far as I can remember, every week One or the other would always come pick me up from home, I was always excited to go, I was spoiled, they treated me so special, I grew up with them I would go to work with my grandma at Conrail train station doing janitorial work, an she would always make the men laugh when she was there, with her smart mouth an funny jokes, her presence was always felt and loved, to know her is to love her . We would lay in bed an watch Regis an Kathy Lee, As the world turns Bold & Beautiful, play dominoes, eat snacks, her house was my second home an it felt good to be around her an my grandpa. She was the best to me. She loved me for 36 yrs unconditionally, an I love her, I miss her so very much, her spirit is felt around me, I know she’s with me, she is my angel now I will see her again an I will look for her when I get there, no more pain grandma, you are with your family now, I know she’s in a much better place, my love Anna Ruth Seals, kiss kiss my sweet sweet lady

My “Mutters” my heart is still so heavy and I’m sooo blessed that God dealt me to you. Thank you for loving me unconditionally and always advocating for me. When you came to my home on 8/17/21 after your 1st surgery I wouldn’t change a moment of that time. Dad went home the 1st night and all night long you called me singing “Jeeena come give me a sip teas, Jeeena come cover me up, Jeeena turn the heat up I’m cold. Jeeena come put my leg back in the bed. Jeeena turn me the other way.” I said “put your right leg over top of left leg” you said thats not a leg it’s called a stumped. We laughed… I wouldn’t change a moment of that time with you for the world. It was 10 days of you me and I will never forget. You literally were my baby and I took care of you the same as you took care of me all my life. I made sure you were clean, baby oiled gel down and dressed cute and comfortable. My baby. So grateful you had your mind until the end! On your video tribute I know many wonder why I took that picture with the nasogastric tube but believe me it’s because I asked you if you knew they were getting ready to take off left leg to and you said “I know I’m getting ready to have surgery again” Ever decision that was made you knew. I LOVE YOU MY PRECIOUS “MUTTERS”
