Arnold Winbush

Arnold Winbush, Jr., born on July 13, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio. He passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at the Laurels of Walden Park Nursing home in Columbus, Ohio.

Arnold was known too many as “Thinny”. He was a veteran of the United States army. His work history included, the Columbus Sanitation department, orderly at Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, an auto mechanic for family and friends and many odd jobs. His hobbies were fishing, photography, painting and drawing, singing, playing his guitar and keyboard. In his later years, he took an interest in learning and working on computers. He loved listening to one of his favorite singers Aretha Franklin, as well as the old and new gospel singers. He enjoyed reading his Bible and attending church service at Rehoboth Temple in Columbus, Ohio, when his health would allow.

Thinny was the son of the late Arnold Winbush, Sr. and Alnola Winbush. His two stepdaughters, Dorothy Ferguson and Willette Michelle Shepherd, precede him in death. His children, Thomas (Wancine) Winbush, Harvey (Ely) Winbush, Alethea (Esrich) Jordan, and Arnetta Harris survive him. His grandchildren; Carolyn Winbush, Cine’AnnaKyia Jackson, step-grandson Anthony Jackson, Harvey Winbush, Jr., Jasmine Winbush, DiNisio Winbush, Corey Phillips, Aaron Winbush, Marcus Winbush, Brandon Patterson, Jerry Patterson, Terry Powell, Chelsea Patterson and five great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Sisters Patricia Stevenson, Alnola Marie Winbush Beckham and Charmyne Nixon and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends.

Thinny faced many challenges and hardships during his lifetime and in his last month of life he wanted to express his gratitude to all his family and friends who stood by him during those years and for all the phone calls, cards, prayers and visits to see him this past year. He also wanted to thank those who provided medical service and comfort care to him for the past ten months. He especially wanted to extend a special thank you to the following family members who dedicated their time and personal assistance to him during his hospice care. He understood that they too were dealing with their own health issues as well; however, they still assisted him during his darkest days and critical time of need. Thank you to Joy Winbush (niece), Charmyne Nixon (sister) and his daughter Alethea Jordan, who worked together to transition him from his apartment into the nursing home and for comforting him until his final days of life.
