Barbara Mae Wilkins, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a cherished member of her community, passed away on May 20, 2023, in Mansfield, Ohio. Born on September 4, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of Maranda and Bennie Crews. Barbara was a remarkable woman known for her passion for crafts and sewing.

Barbara’s spiritual journey began at Victory Temple Church of God in Christ in Brooklyn, where she was an active and devoted member. After moving to Mansfield, she continued her faithful service at Greater Mitchell Chapel AME Church, where her presence and dedication were deeply valued.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved son, Scott Kelly Wilkins, as well as her brothers, John C. Moore, Randolph Moore, and Sipio Johnson. Although she will be dearly missed, her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Left to cherish Barbara’s memory are her loving son, Michael Wilkins, thirteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and her sisters: Evangelist Nora Bean, Reverend Loretta Norris, and Roberta (Duane) Hill. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom were touched by her kindness, love, and warmth.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023, starting at 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 PM at the Marlan J. Gary Funeral Home, Mansfield Chapel, located at 753 McPherson St. (formerly Williams Funeral Services). Barbara will be laid to rest at the Mansfield Cemetery Association.
