McKnightCathy

Cathy Jean McKnight was born July 9, 1962, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Delores Hill and Freddie McKnight.

Cathy attended Columbus City Schools and earned a degree in Horticulture from North Adult Education Center. Cathy was a member of New Life United Methodist Church, and regularly volunteered at the United Methodist Free Store, Saint John’s Community Kitchen, and school field trips with her grandchildren.

Cathy was a very hands-on person and was an avid reader. She also loved baking, sewing, fishing, gossiping on the phone, and watching The Young and the Restless. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She treated each one of them as if they were royalty.

Cathy is preceded in death by her parents, Delores Hill and Freddie McKnight; and brothers, Lee Roy McKnight and Robert Lee McKnight.

Cathy is survived by her loving daughter, Atiya R. McKnight; son, Troy L. McKnight; significant other, Walter C. Smith; sisters, Rosetta M. Johnson, Debra M. McKnight Calhoun, and Leslie Terry; grandchildren, Darryl V. Henderson-McKnight, Ky’Li M. Henderson-McKnight, Aubrey R. McKnight, Jonathan J. Jones, and Nyerobi A. Jennings; best friend, Toyna Reid; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

My Love you were on my mind. We went to Kroger this evening. By the way I try to stay out of Kroger. That was your favorite spot. I go to the restroom here comes your Aubrelicious with a motorized buggy. “Nana use to let me drive her around in this buggy mom.” She misses you so much I wish you would’ve had more time to share with her. Well I just wanted to chat for a minute.
    I Love You My Love!
    Goodnight!

  10. YOUR LOVING DAUGHTER

Another holiday without you My Love. Just thinking you would have had that grill at Aunt Debra going. Probably would’ve been done by now. Waiting on me to bring the side dishes that I cooked. Listening to you tell me how “Aunt Debra doesn’t know anything about cooking as many times as Uncle Curt has tried to teach her.” It is hilarious! However she does try her best. Good times and great memories with you My Love.
