Diane Ann Rucker was born January 4, 1955, and took Journey into eternity on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the age of 68. She was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. Diane attended Columbus City Schools and graduated from East High School in 1973. She continued her education at Columbus State Community College. She worked for the Columbus Board of Education for 10 years. She went on to work another 20 years for The City of Columbus, and then she retired. After retirement Diane opened a daycare and she also continued running her cleaning company.

Diane was ambitious and found excitement in any challenge that required discipline and personal growth. She was an advocate for good health and well-being. Pursuing a long-term goal, she was able to obtain a black belt in karate. Through many hours of training, she became a body builder. Although her personal goals were important, her greatest accomplishments were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was known for having a strong relationship with the Lord, her infectious smile and working hard. She was a wonderful mother, an amazing cook, loved shopping, and a great provider. She had an outgoing personality and was loving, caring, and devoted to her family.

Preceded in death by her parents Howard Rucker and Minnie Rucker. Sister, Cindy Cobb and her niece Priscilla Coleman.

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters; Amika (Donavin) Edwards, Aneka Rucker and Alithia Rucker of Columbus, Ohio. She will be truly missed by those who had the pleasure and privilege of loving and knowing her!

He Only Takes the Best

God saw she was getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around her, and whispered “Come with Me”. With tearful eyes we watched her suffer and saw her fade away. Although we love her dearly, we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He Only Takes the Best. Although her heart stopped beating. Her love will always remain. Her absence puts upon our hearts a very heavy strain. For now, she is in a place of everlasting rest. We just have to understand that God, “He Only Takes the Best”

  16. Diane, was one of the first real friends I met when I moved to Columbus over 40 years ago. She was a go getter, she taught me a few things, she was funny, she was smart, she was serious, but most of all she was always about her business. Just a dynamic person. I’m so sorry for your loss, may she forever rest in heaven.
