Earnestine Lyles

Earnestine Lyles

Earnestine Jarrett Lyles was born November 25, 1951 in Grand Junction, Tennessee to Eddie and Ethel Jarrett. Earnestine and her family relocated to St. Louis, Missouri in 1955. Her mother later met and married Willie G. Wallace in 1958, a man Earnestine would learn to love and respect as her father. Earnestine was proceeded in death by her parents, three brothers, Albert Lee Jarrett, Eddie Lee Jarrett, Jr., Henry Thomas Jarrett and one sister, Kathleen Jarrett Brown.

Earnestine received her education through the St. Louis, Missouri School System. She married Arthur Charles Dade and Eugene Lyles, who both preceded her in death. She was a faithful wife and mother. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and served under the leadership of Elder Bennie & First Lady Delorie Thompson of Shining Light Pentecostal Church. While there, she was a faithful member, Sunday School teacher and choir member.

After relocating to Columbus, Ohio in 2001, Earnestine worked in dietary for the health care industry until retirement. She loved the Lord and regularly attended New Covenant Believers’ Church under the leadership of Bishop Howard and First Lady Glenneth Tillman until she became ill. Earnestine Lyles was a woman of few words, but if you took a few moments to get to know her, you would hear about her deep love for her children, her Lord, and her church. When she could no longer drive, she just wanted to go to her church, “a real church, New Covenant Believers’.”  If you could see her journal, you would see the notes that she took of each sermon she heard from Bishop Howard Tillman, with the dates and notes showing his sermon titles and highlights of his sermons. If you looked a little further you could get a glimpse of her prayer life as she would list the names of the people she was fervently praying for; every one of her children by name, her grandchildren, people that were in the hospital, and her friends were all listed. You would also take note that she was an astute business woman who took care of her debts and wasn’t delinquent in paying her bills. She also recorded every monetary gift that she received and every loan she made, whether paid back or not. Her son, Reginald said that in another life she must have been an accountant.

Ms. Earnestine Lyles quietly made her mark in this life by gifting us with five lovely children whom she was so very proud of; they were one of her greatest accomplishments. She was also a special gift to us when she walked softly into a room and lit up the whole room with her radiant and magnetic smile. That smile represented the kind and caring person that she really was.  She enjoyed reading her Word, walking daily to get her Fitbit steps in, and doing her word search puzzle books.

She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Psalmist Jacqueline Dade, Sonia Morris and LaKisha (Jonethan) Sepelak; two sons, Minister Arthur Dade, Jr., and Reginald (Ajai) Jarrett; two brothers, Charles (Liz) Wallace and Elder Melvin (Pam) Jarrett; four sisters, Joan Mann, Evangelist Laura Wallace, Wrentress Mitchell and Patricia (Elder Michael) Miller; grandchildren, JaVaughn, Sanaa, Wilbert, Jwan, Savannaha,  as well as, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Private services Visitation 2:00 PM and Memorial Service 3:00 PM Saturday, May 30, 2020 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. A mask is mandatory.
