Ethel Diane Scofield Conway

Diane Conway

Ethel Diane (Scofield) Conway, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away on October 7, 2023. Diane was born on March 5, 1961 in Cedartown, GA. She was a devoted wife to her husband Robert Lee Conway, a loving mother to her children Andre Deshawn Scofield and La’Keisha Lynn Scofield, and a cherished daughter to Ethel Alma Ruth Scofield.

Diane and two of her sisters accepted Christ as Lord and Savior as youth and were baptized at Hebrew Missionary Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio. She along with them was a member of the Hebrew Youth Choir and the Hebrew Mass Choir. She is stilled loved and adored by the Hebrew family.

Diane was a graduate of South High School in Columbus. She dedicated over 37 years of her life to serving the City Schools in Columbus, OH, where she worked as a Food Service Provider. During her time at the school district, she also held a second job where she contributed her culinary talents to Riverside Methodist Hospital. A few of the physicians occasionally requested Diane to prepare a meal for them. She was well loved by her colleagues and enjoyed preparing dishes for them as well; several of them began calling her “mama”.

Outside of her professional life, she found solace and joy in fishing. Whether it was at Buckeye Lake or Fremont Lake, fishing was a passion that allowed her to unwind and connect with nature. She was so serious about her fishing trips she would not even allow family to accompany her unless you could bait and remove your own fish from the hook, and you had to be absolutely quiet. Needless to say, none of us ever accompanied her.

Diane was known by her middle name but at times she was affectionately called Lady Di by friends and family. Many of her nieces and nephews practically grew up in her house; they enjoyed hanging with Auntie so much that they stayed overnight quite often. Diane was hilariously funny and brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. She would have everyone laughing so hard until tears were rolling.

Diane Conway will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Willie George “JR” Scofield Jr; She is survived by her loving husband, devoted mother, children, and her cherished siblings, Sarah Jordan, Jean Scofield, Carolyn Morrow, Susan Scofield, Melissa (David) Scofield Bailey, and Phillip Scofield; stepchildren, Dondia Steele, Keith (April) Martin, Keishauna Mateen, Destiny Conway and Dejsha Conway, Emmanuell Conway; and a host of step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

  6. I am going to miss my sister soooo much! She kept me laughing. She was such a joy to be around. I’ve never known my sister to have one enemy. I only wish I could be half the woman she was. I’ll never forget all the stupid games she talked me and my younger sibling into playing like hot butter and beans. She hid the belt and we never found it of course hahahaha. After the time to look was up she’d pull the belt out and whip us all the way up to the attic at the safe place. Yep! I’m going to really, really miss my sister!
