George Amos Sheppard, Sr., was born August 11, 1935 in Cave Spring, GA to Willie and Della (Ware) Sheppard Sr.

George accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church in Cave Spring, GA. He attended Main High School in Rome, GA and it was during that time that he met the Head Majorette of Cedar Hill High School, Ora D. Sherfield. On October 20, 1956 he married Ora and to this union three children were born; George Jr., Beverly and Barry.

In 1958 George, Ora and their children left Georgia and moved to Columbus, Oho to Pursue better opportunities. George was employed by Columbus Auto Parts and the Ohio State University until retirement.

In Columbus, George united with Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church where he remained a member for over 40 years. Here, he served on the Sr. Usher Board until his health no longer permitted him to do so.

George loved the outdoors, and his landscaping at his homes showed that. You could always find him cutting, flowering, trimming, mulching and gardening.

George is preceded in death by his parents; Dell and Willie Sheppard, Sr., wife of 47 years, Ora D., grandson An'Tuan M; and two brothers Marcus and will Sheppard Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sons; George Jr. (Staci) of Akron, Ohio and Barry, daughter Beverly of, brother Donn Sheppard all of Columbus, sister Mary Leeks of Cave Spring, GA, two grandchildren Da'Juan (April) Palmore and Raymond Griffith, five great grandchildren Ilicia, De'Marco, Paige, Genesis and Dominic; dear friend and caregiver Delores Pass, special daughter Monica Palmore-Westbrook and a host of other relatives and friends.
