Howard Boddie, Jr. was born to Jacqueline and Howard Boddie on May 11, 1957, on Mother’s Day in Columbus, Ohio. Howard came into the world as a gift on this special day. On December 7th, 2023, Howard was called home to be with our Heavenly Father and Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Howard grew up in Columbus, Ohio. As a child, Howard’s nickname was “Ox”. He had a paper route as a delivery boy and would spend all his money on pizzas. He attended South High School where he then enlisted and served in the Army. Howard served his country and was discharged from the Army with Honors.

He then went on to attend Franklin University. Howard’s goal early in life was to become an attorney. He studied law extensively, and had he became an attorney, he would have been a competent litigator.

Howard was a skillful chess player, loved music and would attend rock concerts. Howard gave his life to Christ and completed a Bible course program early on in life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Boddie, Sr., and his sister, Robin L. Schoolfield (husband, Gary Schoolfield).

Howard’s life and memories will be left to be cherished by his mother, Jacqueline Marshall; devoted son, Howard Boddie III (wife, Angel); grandchildren, Joseph Boddie, Amara Boddie and Elijah Boddie; his sisters, Dr. Deborah L. (husband, Jean-Marie), Polynice, and Karen Boddie; as well as his brothers, Richard C. Boddie, Derrick A. Boddie (wife, Chandra), Eric Boddie (wife, Theresa), and special God-daughters, Jacqueline Jones & Monica Jones; special brother, Robert Wilson; special friend, Earl Wilson, a host of special cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other family and friends.

Howard will truly be missed by many. His life and the legacy he leaves behind is blessed and will continue to live on through his son and grandchildren. The many memories of him, we will all cherish.

Visitation 1:00 PM and Funeral Service 2:00 PM Thursday, December 21, 2023 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd.).

Interment at Dayton National Cemetery Date and Time TBD.
