In Loving Memory of Joshua Matthew Watts
October 10, 1990 – October 8, 2023

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joshua Matthew Watts, a beloved son, brother, father, and friend. Joshua left this world on October 8, 2023, in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 32. Born on October 10, 1990, in Springfield, Ohio, Joshua brought joy and light into the lives of those around him.

Joshua was a dedicated son, surviving his mother Ruth Sims and his father Anthony Watts. He cherished his role as a father and leaves behind his adored son, Jeremyiah Isaiah Watts, who was the center of his universe. Joshua’s love for his family knew no bounds, and he will be deeply missed by his parents, his siblings, Janelle (Elliot) Craig, Milique (Ke’Asha) Wilson, Symone Wilson, Paris Watts, Martice Watts, Gabrielle Watts and Briell Watts.

He was predeceased by his brother Byron Wilson, grandparents Mary Gray, Thomas Dudley, Sal Watts, Uncle John Watts, all who held a special place in Joshua’s heart.

Joshua attended Groveport High School and Reynoldsburg High School. He found fulfillment working with Scioto Vending. Joshua’s warm personality and exceptional work ethic left an indelible impact on his colleagues.

When he wasn’t working, Joshua was an avid sports fan. He passionately cheered for the Ohio State Buckeyes football team and was a devoted follower of the Los Angeles Rams. He especially admired basketball superstar LeBron James, supporting whichever team he played for. Joshua found joy in sharing these sporting moments with his loved ones, creating lasting memories together.

Joshua will be survived by his son Jeremiyah Isaiah Watts, and his mother Ruth (Anthony Hannah) Sims, Father Anthony Watts. Joshua will also be remembered by his extended family, including his beloved grandmother Marian Watts, and his aunts and uncles, Catherine (William) Winston, Jeffrey Dudley, Dale Bailey, Tim (Shyquita) Dudley, Alisa Watts, Gloria Watts, Phoebe Watts, Tony Watts, Marsel Watts, Michelle Wilson, Erik Wilson, Tai Wilson, and Adrienne Bailey, Michael Bailey, Chris Bailey, Brook Bailey, and Joyce Kincherlow. Girlfriend Janea Stephens, and mother of his son, Essence Johnson. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were touched by his kindness and infectious smile.

As we remember Joshua Matthew Watts, let us celebrate the incredible person he was and the love he bestowed upon us all. May his memory forever remain in our hearts and may his spirit guide and inspire us to live life to the fullest, just as he did.

“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear.”
